The Gallery > London Sights (Feb '06)
It's been a while since I'd last been a tourist in London, so a couple of days after visiting Dover Castle I headed up to town. The Southbank is particularly good for cramming in the sights, with dozens of tourist attractions all in the space of a couple of miles.

Starting at Waterloo station and heading east, the following can be seen:
London Eye, Jubilee Gardens, St Pauls Cathedral, Southwark Cathedral, City Hall
the Hungerford, Jubilee, Waterloo, Blackfriars, Millennium, Southwark and London bridges
as well as the Festival Hall, National Theatre, Tate Gallery and many other attractions

Jubilee Gardens to City Hall
Some stats for the day
Most impressive area: City Hall development
Least impressive sight(s):
pretty much all the 60's built theatres and galleries
Best building: Swiss Re's "Gherkin"
Best investment: "Bullseye" on the It Box in the Mudlark
Worst investment: £15 for a ticket into the Tower of London, which was a complete disappointment after visiting proper historic sites like Leeds Castle and Dover Castle. Just full of crap displays for kids (obscuring the interiors of pretty much all the buildings) and a multitude of inaccessible areas. And (naturally) full of other tourists that won't shift themselves.
Best refreshment: Nicely chilled pint of Youngs St George in the Founder's Arms
Worst refreshment: The rocket fuel coffee in EAT, which I endured as an excuse to use their toilet - only to find out they didn't have one
