Directory of  Unibond and Other Clubs

For the information of travelling supporters this section contains directions to the grounds of Unibond Premier Division clubs and also links to their websites and forums.  Also retained for reference are ex-Unibond clubs now in Conference North and any other teams that we may have visited in cup ties. The directions are correct to the best of my knowledge and experience - no responsibility taken if you get lost but if you think you can improve upon them please let us know.

Accrington Stanley
M6 northbound to Jct 29, then M65 towards Blackburn/Burnley.  Off at Jct 7 and follow signs for Clitheroe.  Turn right at traffic lights on to A678.  Continue over canal bridge then turn right at next lights on A680 towards Accrington.  After about half a mile turn left into Livingstone Road (50 yards past Crown Hotel on left) and the ground is on the left.

Take the M54 at Jct 10A of the M6. Leave the M54 at Junction 6. Right off the exit roundabout turning down the hill with Tesco (Wellington Retail Park) on the left. Over the small roundabout to the main island at the bottom of the hill where you turn left along Bennetts Bank, signposted Wellington. Continue 1/2 mile to traffic lights. Turn right at the lights and the main stadium entrance is on the left hand side, opposite the Fire Station.

Alfreton Town
Leave the M1 at Jct 28 and take the exit signposted A38(W) towards Derby.  After about 2 miles turn off at the exit signposted Alfreton/Somercotes B600 and turn right at the junction into Nottingham Road.  After 1/2 mile turn left into North Street, immediately past the pedestrian crossing and the ground is 200 yards on the right.

Altrincham
M6 southbound to Jct 20, then M56 towards Manchester.  Off at Jct 6 on to A538 (signposted Hale).  At the first set of lights (about 1.5 miles) go straight ahead then take the third road on the right, Westminster Road.  Continue down here, into Moss Lane and the ground is on the right.

Ashton United
M60 round the east side of Manchester and at Jct 23 take the A635 towards Ashton.  At the roundabout after about 3/4 mile turn left on to A627 Oldham. Follow this road round as it bears sharply to the right at traffic lights and then go straight ahead at the lights immediately following.  Turn left into Queens Road (B6194) after a mile and then left at the lights by the stone cross after 1/2 mile.  Ground is on the right.

Aylesbury United
Exit the M1 at J15a, and take the A43 towards Towcester. From there follow all signs to Buckingham on the A413, and stay on the A413 until you reach Aylesbury. Once in Aylesbury, go straight over the first roundabout and the ground is the next turning on the left, about 100 yards on. 
Alternatively, exit the M40 at Junction 9, then take the A41 first to Bicester and then to Aylesbury. Go straight over the first four roundabouts once you enter Aylesbury itself, following all signs for the A413 to Buckingham. At the fifth roundabout (by the Shell Garage) take the left hand exit. Go left at the next roundabout and the ground is about 100 yards on the right, almost opposite the "Horse & Jockey" pub.

Bamber Bridge
Northbound on M6 to Jct 29 and turn left on to A6.  Turn right at the roundabout on to London Way (still A6), then at next roundabout take first exit on to Brownedge Road (East) and first right into Irongate.  Ground entrance on left at bottom of the road.

Barrow
Leave the M6 at Jct 36 and follow A590 to Barrow.  Pass the Kimberley Clark factory on the right on the outskirts of Barrow.  After a mile or so the road rises to pass over the railway line and then drops down again with Brady's Road Haulage and warehousing on the left and the fire station on the right. Turn left into Wilkie Road to the ground.  Asda and MFI are about 100 yards after this turning.

Blackpool Mechanics (North-West Counties Div 2)
Northbound on M6 to Jct 32 then M55 to Blackpool.  Leave the motorway at Jct 4, take the first exit (A583) off the roundabout, then turn right at the traffic lights into Whitehill Road.  Continue for about one and a half miles, go straight ahead at the traffic lights into Jepson Way and follow this road round to the ground.
Blyth Spartans
Exit from the A19 north of Newcastle, onto the A189, heading towards Ashington. Take the A1061 (Cramlington/Blyth), and then turn right at the first roundabout following signsposts for Blyth. Go straight over the next two roundabouts, cross the railway line, and then turn left at the next roundabout. Go straight ahead at mini roundabout, and then turn right into Plessey Road at next roundabout. The ground is visible on the left.

Bradford Park Avenue
Leave the M62 at Jct 26 and go along the M606 to the end. At the roundabout take the A6036 (signposted Halifax) and pass Odsal Stadium on the left.  At next roundabout take the third exit (still A6036 Halifax) and after approx. one mile turn left down Cemetery Road by the Kings Head public house.  Ground is 150 yards on left.

Bridlington Trinity
Travel the full length of the M62, then continue on A63 towards Hull.  At North Ferriby take A164 to Beverley and turn right here onto A1035 and then A165 to Bridlington. Pass the golf course and go straight ahead at lights. Turn right at roundabout by B&Q, turn left at next lights and over railway bridge.  At roundabout bear left and then straight on up Quay Road.  After lights turn right into Queensgate and ground is 800 yards on right.

M60 round the east side of Manchester and at Jct 23 take the A635 towards Manchester.  After the retail park on the left take the centre lane and turn right at traffic lights on to A662 signed Droylsden.  At the next traffic lights turn right on to Market Street and in 150 yds go straight on at mini-roundabout.  Ground is 75 yards on left.

Dunston FB (Northern League)
The ground is more or less next door to Gateshead Metro Centre.  Approaching Newcastle from the south on the A1 follow Metro Centre signs but take the Whickham /Dunston turn-off just before the Metro Centre is reached.  At the top of the sliproad turn right onto Dunston Road. Follow the road round as it bears left, past the petrol station and the ground is 100 yards further on the left.

Farsley Celtic
Exit M62 at Jct 26 and take M606 (Bradford). At roundabout take the 4th exit (A6177) passing McDonalds on left and continue on Rooley Lane/Sticker Lane, passing Morrisons on the left, to the lights (approx 3 miles). Turn right on to A647 (Leeds) to the second roundabout. Take second exit (B6157 Stanningley) and continue for 800 yards passing police and fire stations on left.  Turn left down New Street at Tradex warehouse before turning right into Newlands.  Ground at bottom of road.
Fleetwood Town
Northbound on M6 to Jct 32 then M55 to Blackpool.  Leave the motorway at Jct 3 and follow A585 to Fleetwood.  At the island by the Nautical College campus (on your left) turn left. At the next island take the sixth exit into Hatfield Avenue.  Ground is 3/4 mile on left.

Frickley Athletic
M62 towards Leeds.   Off at Jct 28, take A650 towards Wakefield and continue on this road at the junction with the M1.  The A61 from Leeds comes in from the left at a roundabout and from this point keep in the left-hand lane of the dual carriageway, then bear left at the next set of lights.  Follow signs for A638 Doncaster through Wakefield and go past the Emley/Wakefield ground on right.  After about 10 miles turn right on to B6474 to South Elmsall.  Straight on at traffic lights then turn right at T-junction.  Go over the railway line (South Elmsall station on left), turn right at the bottom of the road and immediately left into Westfield Lane.  Ground is signposted on left after about half a mile.

Gateshead
A1 northbound to Washington Services, then turn right on to A194M signposted Tyne Tunnel. Turn left at next roundabout on to A184 signposted Gateshead.  The International Stadium is on the right after three miles.

Leave the M62 at Jct 26 and go along the M606 to the end, then followAirport/Harrogate signs to A65 at Rawdon.  Continue on A65 through Guiseley to the ground on right-hand side.

Harrogate Town
A59 eastward into the county of Yorkshire.  On the outskirts of Harrogate go straight on at the intersection of the A61, then up the hill past the church at the top on the right and straight on at the lights by the Dragon pub on the left. Approaching the big roundabout go into the middle lane and go straight on (signed A661, Wetherby).  The ground is about 1/2 mile on the left.

 From M1 Jct 27 take A608 to Hucknall.  Turn right at lights on to A611 to Hucknall then turn right at the roundabout on to the bypass, ignoring B6011 signposted Hucknall.  At second roundabout turn right on to B6009 Watnall Road and the ground is 100 yards on the right.

Hyde United
M60 round the east side of Manchester and at Jct 24 take M67 (Sheffield) as far as Jct 3 (Hyde, Dukinfield, Stalybridge).  On the exit sliproad keep to the right hand lane and turn right at traffic lights at the top onto Clarkway.  At second set of lights turn left (Do-It-All store on left) onto Mottram Road.  At first set of lights turn right into Lumn Road.  After about 200 yards at the 'give way' sign turn left on to Walker Lane.  The entrance to the ground is to the right of the Hyde Leisure Pool which can now be seen on the left. 
NOTE: On the return journey you can not access M67 in a west-bound direction at Jct 3.  Either follow A57 back to M60 Jct 24 (lots of traffic lights) or go on to M67 east-bound to next junction, turn round, and come back.

Ilkeston Town 
Ilkeston is mid-way between Derby and Nottingham, probably best approached from the north on the M1 (long route via M62 or via Chesterfield according to your preference for motorway driving or scenery). Leave the M1 at Jct 26 and take A610 towards Ilkeston.  After approx 2 miles take the slip-road with the signpost for IKEA and turn left at the roundabout.  About 1/3 mile later turn right at the roundabout on to the A6096 Awsworth and Cossall by-pass.  After slightly less than one mile take the right turn signed Cotmanhay.  The ground is down here on the left.

Lancaster City
M6 northbound to Jct 33 then A6 towards Lancaster.  Straight on at the roundabout and you then go into the one-way system approaching the town centre.  Go straight on at the traffic lights at the Market then at the next set of lights (Waterstones bookshop on the left) turn left into Meeting House Lane, across the railway line by the station and turn right into Station Road.  Follow this road round and the ground is on the right.

Lincoln United
M62 to Jct 29, then south on M1.  At Jct 31 take A57 past Worksop and on via Saxilby towards Lincoln until reaching A46 Lincoln Relief Road.  Continue on this and turn left at roundabout signed Birchwood.  Go for one mile passing lake and country park, then first right ten yards after 30mph sign into Ashby Avenue.  Ground entrance after 200yards opposite Old Peoples Home.

A59 towards Liverpool and at Switch Island take the A5036 to Seaforth.  Turn right on to A565 (Southport) and after just over a mile turn left at traffic lights into College Road.  Ground is on left after half a mile.

North Ferriby United
Eastbound M62 all the way to the end where it becomes the A63. Keep heading on towards Hull, get into the right hand lane just after the traffic lights at Melton.  Once past the lights, take the right turn  for North Ferriby.  Follow this road all the way around past the Duke of Cumberland pub, then turn right at the crossroads down Church Road. Ground signposted half a mile on left.

M62 to Jct 29, then south on M1. Leave at Jct40 and take A638 signposted to Ossett Town Centre Take first left into Wakefield Road then sixth left into Dale Street (B6120).  Turn left again at traffic lights and ground is in front opposite bus station. .

Prescot Cables
Via Bickerstaffe and Rainford by-pass to East Lancs Road (A580) and go straight across at the lights. Take first road on right (Bleak Hill Road). Follow this road through to Prescot (2 miles). At traffic lights turn right, straight on at large roundabout (do not follow route onto Prescot by-pass) and right at next lights. 100 yards turn right at Hope and Anchor pub into Hope Street. Club will be in sight at bottom of road.

Exit the M62 at Junction 17, and follow signs for 'Whitefield' and 'Bury'. Take A665 to Radcliffe and continue for 2 miles, passing Asda and Macdonalds on the left.  Turn right into Unsworth Street opposite Turf Hotel. Ground on left approximately half a mile, Colshaw Close East.

A59 towards Liverpool to Switch Island, then M57, followed by M62 towards Manchester.  Come off at next junction (Jct 7) and take the A557, following signs for Widnes.  After about 4 miles go through the first set of traffic lights (near Focus and B&Q), then get in the right-hand lane and go through second set of lights following signs for Liverpool.  Continue at third set of lights then at the roundabout (near McDonalds) go straight ahead, then straight ahead again immediately at the next roundabout.  The Autoquest Stadium is on this road on the right.

From the Ring O'Bells at Burscough take B5240 Skelmersdale road.  Turn right at the Plough into Spa Lane and continue for over a mile.  Turn right at T-junction into Stanley Way then right again at next T-junction (Statham Road).  Ground is on left.

Spennymoor United
Northwards on the M6 and exit at junction 38, onto the A685 toward Brough, passing through Kirkby Stephen. Turn onto A66 at Brough, and take the A67 toward Barnard Castle, over the bridge at traffic lights, through Barnard Castle market place. At the next mini roundabout turn left, onto the A688 toward Bishop Auckland & Spennymoor. Follow the A688 past Bishop Auckland, Middlestone Moor, and then turn left at the roundabout, follow the town centre signs. Past the Peugeot garage on the right, third exit at next roundabout and then bear left over the zebra crossing, opposite town hall tower, past town centre parking, and the Co-Op. At the next mini roundabout turn left and the ground is on left behind Durham Road.

Stalybridge Celtic
M60 round the east side of Manchester and at Jct 24 take M67 (Sheffield). At the roundabout at the end of the motorway (Jct. 4) continue on the A57 and after 1/2 mile turn left at the traffic lights on to B6174 signposted Stalybridge.  Turn left at the mini-roundabout on to Roe Cross Road and continue for about a mile and a half.  The ground is on the left by the Hare and Hound pub.

Tamworth
Southbound down the M6 - turn off at Jct 12 along the A5 via Cannock and Brownhills.  After passing Hints the A5 becomes a new dual carriageway. Pass the turning for Sutton Coldfield and take the turning signed A51 Tamworth.  At the roundabout take the third exit (Tamworth Castle) at which point Sainsburys is on the left.  At next roundabout take 4th exit (signed Ankerside multi-storey) at which point the Ladybridge Beefeater is on the left.  Continue with the Snowdome on your right to a roundabout and take second exit (Nottingham, Burton, Nuneaton). At next roundabout take 1st exit (Amington, Glascote), then 2nd exit at next roundabout (B5000 Glascote). At next roundabout take 2nd exit (Kettlebrook) and you will now be in Kettlebrook Road,  The entrance to the ground is the first right turn about 50 yards from the roundabout.

A59 towards Liverpool, take the Wallasey tunnel under the river and continue on the M53.  Leave the motorway at junction 5, then take the A41 for Chester. At first set of traffic lights, turn left into Hooton Green. Continue to the end of this road where you will come to a T junction, turn left here and follow this road to the end. There is another T junction, turn right here and follow road for approx 250 yards - there is a right turn here for Vauxhall Motors Sports & Social Club. Turn right here and you will see football ground immediately to the left of the Social Club (from motorway exit approx 5 minutes drive).

Wakefield & Emley
Emley now ground-share with Wakefield Wildcats Rugby League club. M62 towards Leeds.  Off at Jct 28, take A650 towards Wakefield and continue on this road at the junction with the M1.  The A61 from Leeds comes in from the left at a roundabout and from this point keep in the left-hand lane of the dual carriageway, then bear left at the next set of lights.  Follow signs for A638 Doncaster and after passing underneath the railway the ground is on the right after about a mile.

Whitby Town
Follow A59 eastwards towards Harrogate then A61 via Ripon to Thirsk, A170 to Pickering and A169 across the moors towards Whitby.  After passing through Sleights, turn right at the roundabout on to the A171, straight ahead at the next roundabout, then left at the traffic lights and down a fairly steep hill.  At the bottom of the hill turn left up Chubb Hill and at the roundabout at the top take second exit on to Upgang Lane.  Ground on right after about a mile.

Witton Albion
Leave the M6 atJct 19 and take B5391 on through Pickmere.  On reaching the junction with A559 (Black Greyhound pub on left) continue straight across.  Ground is half a mile on the left immediately after crossing the canal bridge.

Workington
Leave M6 northbound at jct 40 and take A66 to Workington via Keswick and Cockermouth.  On outskirts of Workington turn right at T-junction on to A596 and continue for 3/4 mile.  Ground is then visible and signposted.
Worksop Town
Quickest, but longest and most boring, route is M62 to Jct 29, then south on M1.  At Jct 31 take A57 towards Worksop.  After about 6 miles at the first roundabout ignore the B6041 to Worksop and continue on A57. Straight on at next roundabout then turn left after a mile at next one on to A60.  Look for Focus DIY store on right as road bears left after about 3/4 mile and take the side road on the left just before Currys and  B&Q stores.  Ground is down here on left.
Alternatively, the scenic route - M60, M57 (via Hyde), A628 (via Woodhead), A616 (via Stocksbridge) to M1, then south to Jct 31 and as above.

Yeovil Town
Use the M5 south to junction 25(Taunton). Take the A358 sign posted Ilminster until joining the A303 sat Horton Cross. Continue along the A303 in an easterly direction sign posted Andover and London until the Cartgate roundabout the turn right onto the A3088 signposted Yeovil. At the first roundabout, take the first exit along Bundford Lane (airfield opposite) go straight over the next three roundabouts into western Avenue then turn left into Copse Road and you will see the Stadium and car park on the left where there is parking for 800 cars.
