1887 - Land owned by the Earl of Derby, farmed and occupied by Mr. William Spencer. Mart Lane was only developed in 1887 when James Martland Ltd. built their new premises there and obtained the area of land now known as Victoria Park.
1908 - Burscough Wesleyans Cricket Club built a pavilion where the Community Centre now stands and played cricket on site of present football ground. Ground laid by Cricket Club President, Walter Martland.
1908/1914 -Burscough Rangers played at 'Mart Lane Enclosure.' Played 30 yards nearer to railway and shared with Burscough Wesleyans football team. Teams changed in cricket pavilion.
1914/1919 -Mart Lane ground cultivated during First World War.
1921 -Burscough Rangers moved back to Mart Lane after a period on Travis' Field in Higgins Lane. Ground rented from James Martland Ltd. Now playing where present football ground is sited. Teams changed in 'Pavilion Cottage.'
1926 -Grandstand erected by voluntary labour (400 seats). Built using materials from Everton's Bullens Road stand.
1931 -Ground and Stand sold to Lathom & Burscough Urban District Council.
1934/1935 -Burscough Rangers folded. Ground rented to Lancashire Electric Power Company for remainder of season.
1935/1937 -Victoria Park home to Northern Nomads (1935-36 Reserves in Liverpool County Combination, 1936-37 Lancashire Combination side).
1937/1941 -Burscough Vics and Lathom Juniors moved to Victoria Park. Vics continued playing there until 1941.
Dec 1943 -British Restaurant opened, serving drinks and meals to service personnel - now the Community Centre.
1944/45 -A 'Burscough F.C.' playing in Southport & District Amateur League, registered ground Victoria Park.
1945/46 -Used by Burscough senior and junior teams, playing in Southport & District League.
1946 -Present Burscough A.F.C. formed, agreed Security of Tenure on ground with local council.
1950 -Covered accommodation at Crabtree End erected.
1951 -Ground and Stand bought from Ormskirk Council for £400. Public Subscription Fund set up. Liverpool F.C. sent team for fund- raising game.
Sept 1957 -Social Club opened beneath grandstand.
1959 -Wall at Mart Lane end built.
1960 -New canteen erected. Old canteen used as offices.
June 1963 -Social Club (now The Barons) opened by Councillor S.C.Jones. Cost £6,000.
1970 -Wall built between ground and rest of Victoria Park. Grant for half of cost obtained from Ormskirk Council. Cost £600.
1972 -Floodlights installed. Switch on Thursday March 9th v. Oswestry Town in Cheshire League.
1983 -Social Club sold.
1986/87 -Old grandstand, which had been built in 1926, dismantled. Old canteen, situated between stand and new canteen, demolished. Floodlight pylons damaged in gales. New grandstand built using voluntary labour. New Floodlighting system installed at cost of £11,000.
Aug 1988 -New 250 seater Grandstand officially opened by Mr. Syd Rudd, Life Vice-President of the Football Association. Celebration Match v. Liverpool followed opening.
1994 -Covered standing accommodation for 500 spectators erected opposite main grandstand. Crabtree Lane End Stand refurbished. Floodlights upgraded.
1995 -Flagpole erected at Mart Lane end. Flag donated by Vice-President, Mr. Ken Ainslie.
1996 -Work commenced on extending dressing rooms under stand to meet latest ground grading requirements. Covered standing area terraced.
1998 - Road past ground named Bobby
Langton Way after the former Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Preston
North End and England winger Bobby Langton who was born and died in Burscough.
