We provide support and information to all women who have experienced sexual violence.
To become a volunteer you will be invited to attend an informal information evening to find out more about our work. You will be asked to complete an application form and to provide two references. You will be asked to attend an interview.
We provide our own training which covers topics including, rape trauma syndrome, child sexual abuse, self harm and support skills.
We ask you to commit as much time as you feel is reasonable. However we expect you to contribute to the running of the organisation by attending the Management Team Meetings. All volunteers must attend supervision once a month.
We have a variety of tasks that volunteers can get involved in once the training course has been completed. The service currently includes, an out of hours helpline, drop in, face to face support, telephone support, email and letter support.
You will be doing something worthwhile by providing a service that research has shown is much needed. It will provide you with the chance to gain experience and knowledge in this area, which may help to open up other opportunities in the future. Hopefully you will also develop new friendships and interests.
You will be reimbursed for all reasonable out of pocket expenses, during training and support work. We also have a childcare budget which can be used to enable women with children to volunteer.
