We are Gary & Gail Parsons and live in Stoke-on-Trent, England with our 3 children and have owned Akitas since 1990, when we created the Sukari affix.

We are a small show/breeding kennels and as each of our dogs has their own special place in our family, we try not have any more than 6 Akitas at any one time, and choose to campaign one, or at a push maybe two dogs at a time.  We believe that this gives our dogs the best of both worlds, being part of a loving family and also being successfully shown at the highest level.

These are some of our significant achievements in the show ring:

Owner/Handler of the UK's top winning white Akita of all time
Owner/Handler of the UK's first and only white male champion

Breeders of UK Top Akita Puppy 2006
Breeders of UK Top Akita Male Puppy 2006
Owner/handler of the Number 2 Akita Male 2004
Owner/ handler of the Res Best Dog Crufts 2004 & 2005
Breeder/Owner/handler of Akita Speciality winners
Owner/Handler of Akita Speciality Best in Show winner
Breeeders of CC winner & Res CC winners
Breeders/Owner/Handlers of Best in Show & Res Best in Show winners
Breeders/Owner/Handlers of Best Puppy in Show winners.
Breeders/Owner/Handlers of Junior Warrant Winners

A little background on Sukari Akitas:

The Early years.....

We had never shown dogs before so it was like a new world opening up to us. With the help of our local training club and a few new friends,  Gary started Omar & Sukishowing at local Open Shows with our first bitch,  Suki (Othertons Geisha Girl at Sukari). We were bitten by the show bug and we soon bought another Akita, this time a male.  This was  Omar (Yakuza Use Your Illusion at Sukari) it was with him that Gary progressed to Championship shows and was soon winning strong classes at shows all over the Country, including a "Best in Show" at  Open show level and a  first at Crufts in 1995.

Success at last.......

Since these early years and having served our apprenticeship!!! with thorough hard work and sheer determination we have gone from strength to strength in the Show ring, and in 2001 we made up our first Champion a white, Tasha (Redwitch Chance a Glance at Sukari). We had finally done it!  and no mean feat with a white as anyone will tell you .   Tasha gaining her crown was not only special to us as she is our first Champion, but by doing so we also helped the world famous "Redwitch Kennels" in making breed history, becoming the first and only breeders in the UK to date to produce three UK Champions from one litter, the other two being (Redwitch Stare if you Dare) and (Redwitch Feel Free to Stare). She is also only the third white Akita to win her title in the UK, the first being her Grandmother (Oktumi Valentine at Redwitch).

And today......

As if it wasn't hard enough making up one white Champion we were mad enough to try again! This time a male from the well established Nosferatu Kennels. Tommy (Nosferatu Nemesis for Sukari JW). Only this time it was our turn, Sukari to make breed history by making up the first and only white male UK Champion! We were  over the moon. We had done it, again!! Nosferatu who, incidentally, bred and own the only other white Champion bitch in the UK at the time (Nosferatu Artic Fox) must have felt much in the same way, because by us making Tommy up to "Champion" we also helped them to make breed history by becoming the only Kennels in the UK to have bred two white Champions.    Tommy is also the only white Akita in the UK to gain a Junior Warrant award, and is now the UK's top winning white of all time.

We had a break from the show scene in 2006 but  our puppies from our 2005 litter still made an impact in the ring. Sukari's Best Chance for Sukari being awarded Top Akita Puppy 2006 and her brother Sukari's Renaissance at Graecarth ended 2006 as the Top Male Akita Puppy, winning between them an amazing 9 Best Puppy in Breed and 4 Reserve CC's and Puppy Group 2.
