Shenington MSA/ABkC Round 5: 25.7.04

NEWSLETTER

Many congratulations to Mark Litchfield, Oliver Rowland and Peter Vincent who provisionally cannot now be beaten in Formula A, Cadet and 100 Nat respectively. This is of course Rowland’s second consecutive title, whilst Litchfield has narrowly missed out on more than one occasion. The Christodoulou cousins, Adam and Riki, uniquely took all four JICA and ICA finals and three out of four heats between them. Jeremy Metcalfe was dominant in F.A., Dane Smith in 100 National, whilst James Thorp enjoyed a narrow Cadet victory, his first at this level.

Results Final 1: Metcalfe, Catt, Edgar, Litchfield, Chris Rogers, Benjy Russell.

Final 2: Metcalfe was a whopping four seconds clear of Catt, with Sims storming up from last. Litchfield initially dropped back, then recovered to fourth again.

ABkC 100 National

Heat winners: Dane Smith, Mike Brinkworth, Scott Baines.

A Final: Smith rushed off into the distance ahead of Peter Vincent with polesitter Brinkworth fading just a little to third. Tiffany Chittenden held off Scott Baines, whilst traffic meister Michael Meadows vaulted up from grid 17 to sixth.

Results: Smith, Vincent, Brinkworth, Chittenden, Baines, Meadows.

ABkC Formula Cadet

Heat winners: Jordan Lennox-Lamb, Daniel Murphy, Oliver Rowland.

A Final: As always, spectators were treated to a slip-streaming express train up front. Rowland had an early lead but dropped way back. With a lap to go, the order was Thorp, Boullen, Rowland, Godbehere, Thompson, poleman Lennox-Lamb and Murphy. Then Thompson was launched, dropping to 17th. Later James Godbehere was given a time penalty, putting him 20th.

Results: Thorp, Boullen, Rowland, Lennox-Lamb, Tom Joyner, Jack Harvey.

Shenington Shenanigans

Despite a warning at drivers briefing, Peter Rees, Jason Gardner, James Wright and Craig Cole were excluded from timed qualifying for sidepod infringements. In JICA, Max Chilton and Adam Batch similarly did not conform. Batch struggled to get things right, he was excluded again from the second final. Clerk of the Course Rod Taylor said teams need to make a much bigger effort to prepare the karts properly.
