NEWSLETTER

With Max already won by Michael Simpson, and the other titles provisionally taken by Adam Christodoulou, the fight was for on the runner-up spots. So it was John Boyd in Max after a steady 11th, Daniel Holland enjoying a popular win; Daniel Rowbottom in Juniors, the win his as well; and Mitchell Bayer Goldman in Minis although Nigel Moore took home the spoils of victory.

Thank you to all competitors and sponsors, we’re looking forward to being back, and seeing all of you back in 2005.
Remember the prize giving will be at the NEC, Autosport International Racing Car Show, on Saturday 15th January.

ABkC MiniMax

Heat winners: Paul Marsh, Kazeem Manzur, Sam Smithson, Nigel Moore.

B Final: Robert Butler, Alex Jeffrey, Jordan Chamberlain, Michael Hume.

A Final: Moore, Mitchell Bayer Goldman, Manzur and Smithson all fought for the lead, Marsh tagging on. Then a huge pile-up at the top of the hill stopped proceedings. Kenneth Andrews was T-boned, but later pronounced all right. Moore seemed rejuvenated by the stoppage, vaulting past Bayer Goldman for the lead. As the latter slumped to 7th, Smithson took up the chase, and they traded the lead all the way to the flag, Moore regaining it at Pits on the last lap. Will Stevens stormed up from grid 12 to 3rd.

Results: Moore, Smithson, Stevens, Manzur, William Priest.

ABkC Rotax Junior UK

Qualifying: Daniel Rowbottom 39.55, Richard Singleton, Stefan Wilson, Ben Cooper, Philip Gynn.

Heat winners: Rowbottom, Sam Bennett, Wilson x 2, Brett Parris, Adrian Campfield.

B Final: Dave Thompson, Stefan di Resta, Aaron Steele, Matthew Hamilton.

A Final: Wilson and Rowbottom were away first, with Cooper joining in the mix, briefly leading but Rowbottom was strongest.

Wilson sliced past Cooper at the bottom hairpin, Sam Bennett soon following. They towed each other back up onto
the leader’s bumper, then Bennett fell away. Rowbottom and Wilson caught backmarker Matt Truelove right on the finish line, Wilson then passing for what he thought was a winning move as both did an extra lap.

Results: Rowbottom, Wilson, Bennett, Cooper, Craig Copeland.

ABkC Rotax Max

Qualifying: Lee Jenner 39.58, Martin Pierce, Denis Gorman, Glen Denny, Raymie Eastwood.

Heat winners: Jenner, Pierce, Philip Harkness, Cameron Jackson, Richie Steele, Adam Murphy, John Boyd.

C Final: Terry Corin, Matthew Charters, Eliot Bunn, Geoffrey Lyttle.

B Final: Eastwood, Rob Hanscomb, James McDonald, Chris Jeffs.

A Final: Early leader David Bellchambers succumbed to Daniel Holland with James Abraham catching them up from grid 11. He had just taken Bellchambers when the red flag flew. Denny had suffered steering failure and banged the tyre wall hard. At the single file restart, Bellchambers immediately regained the lead harried by Holland. Abraham was temporarily displaced by Philip English and Trevor Hayes. A couple of laps later Holland was back in front and pulling away, with Bellchambers rapidly slipping down the order to 8th. Abraham regained 3rd, leapfrogged English and set off after the leader.

Results: Holland (pictured right.Image courtesy www.kartpix.net), Abraham, Brown, Philip English, Jenner.

Patter in the Park

MiniMax driver Paul Marsh was formally excluded from the Three Sisters round for fuel irregularities. He has appealed so the results are still provisional. Other scrutineering tests are still on-going in MiniMax and Juniors from that meeting, so the final points are provisional.

Junior racer Zac Chapman was momentarily knocked out in a heat pile up. He was due to stay in hospital overnight for observation. At the restart David Sutton crashed bringing out the red flag for a second time. Brett Parris and Matthew Smettem were not allowed to restart the race after the first red flag and were both fined £100 and had three points apiece on their licence for not obeying the red flag and for not slowing down.

Clerk of the Course Alan Bryant issued a warning to the 2005 crop of drivers: “We’ve been a bit lenient this year and it hasn’t worked. So right from the start of next year we are going to be a lot firmer but still fair. It’s always the minority we have a problem with, the majority of drivers are fine."
