PF International TKM ABkC Round 5: 29.8.04
NEWSLETTER
Congratulations to Michael Cox who has achieved the rare honour of a provisional
back to back series title, despite not finishing the Junior 4-stroke final.
This was won by Kieran Vernon. Senior 4-stroke was won by Sam Dimelow, after
a shower soaked the track.
The changing conditions caught out race leaders Will Bullard and Adam Constable, leaving Steven Bartlett and Ryan Cole as Intermediate and Extreme winners respectively. Junior TKM driver Thomas Davis rounded off August with his third major win.
The short sharp rainstorm brought about plenty of upsets in the finals with a number of new faces on the podium.
Tal-Ko ABkC Formula Jnr. TKM
Heat winners: Rossi, James Tucker, David Brown, Lee Morgan.
B Final: Scott Allen, Fraser Wallace, Max Buckley, Luke Herbert, Ian Munro.
A Final: Davis led off rebutting a short-lived challenge from Max Chilton. He gradually pulled away as Daniel Graham, Ayrton Pankiw and Chilton fought. Ben Gilliard, the highest runner on wets, lost touch and succumbed to Michael Collins. Chris Palmer vaulted up from the back to fifth, and Collins came off. The rest caught Davis, Graham enjoying a lap in the lead, but Davis had it back for the flag.
Results: Davis, Graham, Pankiw, Chilton, Palmer, Gilliard.
Tal-Ko ABkC Formula TKM Extreme
Heat winners: James Nash, Ben Robinson, Adam Constable, Michael Doyle, Ryan Furner.
B Final: Luke Caudle, Paul Fox, Tom Roche, Tom Coller, Michael Cornell.
A Final: Constable led half the race until his mistake, with Ryan Cole just hanging on. Constable dropped back into the clutches of the next group, eventually succumbing to Nash. Paul Janes - virtually the only driver still on wets - lost places to eighth when Robinson took Furner for fourth.
Results: Cole, Nash, Constable, Robinson, Furner, Adam Rodgers.
Tal-Ko ABkC Formula TKM Intermediate
Heat winners: Richard Bond, William Reed, Will Bullard.
A Final: Bullard led most of the race, chased by Steven Bartlett, but made a mistake on the very wet track, plunging to sixth. Paul Moden had been in the mix early on, but dropped way back. Well spaced out, Bartlett won from George Dench and Reed, the latter caught by Joe Morrison and Bullard.
Results: Bartlett, Dench, Reed, Morrison, Bullard, Zak Roseman.
Tal-Ko Formula TKM 4-stroke
Heat winners: Chris Needham X2, Carl Willoughby.
A Final: Series leader Willoughby had two ‘offs’ in the heats, Needham one, so both well back. Polesitter Sam Dimelow led with Needham playing snakes and ladders, up to second, down to last and back to second by the end. Chris Walsh gradually dropped away to the back. Steve Nichols, leading the fight for third, fell back to the benefit of Robin Godding and the steadily recovering Willoughby. Dimelow even had time for an over-shoot and U-turn at turn two!
Results: Dimelow, Needham, Godding, Willoughby, Jay Bridger, Nichols.
Tal-Ko Formula Junior TKM 4-stroke
Heat winners: Michael Cox, Rhys Jenkins, Cox(pictured right. Image courtesy

A Final: With the track at its wettest, Cox revelled in the conditions until another driver spun off right in front of him, Cox’s kart stalling in the collision. After a quick spin, Kieran Vernon re-took Matthew Pritchard to win by 18s. Alex Shackleton yo-yoed up and down the order with spins and Tom Bridge lost second with a whack from Jenkins. Shackleton reached second, but spun again, leaving Jenkins to lead Rich for the remaining podium places.
Results: Vernon, Jenkins, Rich, Shackleton, Bridge, Joel Saunders

Intermediate driver Joe Osborne had his licence suspended for 30 days after being abusive to an official whilst trying to restart his kart – “the biggest mistake of my life” as he apologised later.
A rare red-flag was thrown to admonish the front row of the Junior TKM ‘A’ Final. “I don’t do gamesmanship,” said Clerk Steve Clayton.
The last round is at Whilton Mill on 3rd October with all bar one title to be decided.
