Superstox NFR 6
The Cars History / Previous Owners
Since acquiring my Superstox (NFR 6) I've been looking into the cars history as I'm a bit of an anorak on things like that. I knew a bit of the recent history of the car but lets start at the beginning........
The
Car was built by HCD and thanks to their records it was chassis number 96/009
(9th Chassis built in 1996). Colin Aylward told me that Chassis 96/001 -
96/008 were all Brentwood show cars that year for such drivers as Glenn Salmon.
Darren Innocent, Rob Speak, Mick Sworder etc. Chassis 009 was the first
built after the show and it was built as a F2 for Dave Madgwick.
After flicking through my photo albums, I came across the picture on the left
which I believe to be my car taken on 2nd June 1996, at a Good Friday Autospeed
F2 meeting at Ringwood.
The
2nd owner of the car was the Late Chris White #80. Chris acquired the car
as a Rolling Chassis from Dave Madgwick (who was now racing in superstox #217)
around 1999 and Chris added the SX wing and converted from A Frame to watts
linkage plus various bits and pieces to make it ready to race again. The
car certainly helped Chris up his game and get back on the pace, until Chris
then switched cars again this time to a new Higman. Chris unfortunately was
involved in a RTA and passed away in September 2001. The car then sat at
Chris's Workshop for approx. 18 months before being sold.
The
3rd owner of the car was Mark Almieda #194 and he acquired the car at the end of
2003. Mark made a couple of changes to the car, most noticeable from the
pictures was the position of the aerofoil. Mark really liked the car and
had much success with it including several wins which got him up to the Blue
grade despite not attending every meeting. Mark last raced the car at the
Chris White Memorial meeting on 29th
October 2005 and got 8th in the Final in its last race.
Mark was finding the formula was getting expensive especially on tyres so
decided to sell the car in 2006 and built and now races a 2lt Stock car instead.
The 4th owner and current owner is Superstox.org.uk

Many thanks to Colin Aylward, Steve Hamilton and Mark Almeida for helping provide the above information. If you can provide any more history on the car then we would like to hear from you?
