CHANGING IMAGE
BRIGHTNESS AND COLOUR BALANCE
From version 2.0.1.3 the
Tapptoons Animation
Studio has a facility to
alter the colour balance and brightness of individual images or
ranges of images based on Dope Sheet
columns. This facility is primarily intended for the adjustment of
live action AVI frames imported into the Animation Studio to get a better match to with animation levels added
to the scene but it can be used with any bitmaps on any level.
Access to the
Image Colour and Brightness
Form is through the
Dope Sheet Edit
Form and then the
Draw Frames
Form.
Select the frame you want
to change on the Dope
Sheet. This will bring up
the Dope Sheet Edit
Form as below:
To get to the
Draw Frames
Form you need to select
Modify Current Frame
to alter images on the
currently selected Dope
Sheet column or
Modify
Merged Levels if you want to alter the Merged Levels that you may have already created. If no
Merged
Levels have been created
this option will be greyed-out as shown above.. This will bring up
the Draw Frames
Form from which you need
to select the menu option Alter Images > Colours....
This will take you to the
Image Colour and Brightness
Form as below....
There are four
Scroll Bars on this form. The one below the image is
to set an increase in Brightness. The three Scroll Bars at the right of the images adjust the colour
balance. The top alters the Red level,
the one below alters the Green and
the lowest on alters the Blue
content of the image. Clicking the arrows at the end of the
Scroll Bars alters the value by 2, clicking between
the arrows alters the value by 4 points.
When you`ve set the values
you want to try click on the Change
button. If you don`t like the result go to the Undo menu and click on Revert To Original option.
By default the
Change button will alter just the single image
you see on the screen. If you want to alter all the images on the
currently selected Dope
Sheet column then go to
the Change menu and select All Selected Column...
Two Spin Edit boxes will appear so you can select a range of
frames to be modified.
The Start Frame box will show the number of the frame you selected
from the Dope Sheet
and the End Frame box will show the last frame of the Dope Sheet column. You can change these to the numbers you want
to modify.
If you want alter
ALL the images in every column on the
Dope Sheet then you need to select the
Entire Dope
Sheet option. If
Merged
Levels are available you
can change all of those images by using the Merged Levels option.
When you`ve mad your
choices click on the Change
button.
Should you decide you
don`t like the changes you`ve made you can return to the original
bitmaps by using the Restore Backups option in the Undo menu.
These backup bitmaps are created when you make the changes to the
images. They are deleted when the backups are restored.
If you are working with a
single image and wish to save it with a new File Name
you can use the File >
Save As option to do
this.
