Tarascon has many Festivals over the year with the majority being in the summer months.
The largest festival is the Latin-American festival which lasts for twelve days in late July or August. Bands, singers and dancers come from all over the world to perform at this annual festival with free concerts every night outside the Mitterand Centre and there are other events throughout Tarascon.
In the early summer they have their annual Agricultural festival with processions, stalls, exhibitions of sheep shearing etc.
July 14th is the cause of another festival.
There are also other festivals such as ‘The Winds of the South’ in which over three evenings they have a themed meal (usually costing 10 euros including drinks) and musicians and dancing to go with the theme. Themes in the past have included Moroccan, Spanish, Portuguese, and Occitan.
In August/September there are usually free concerts of World Folk music with groups travelling back from the Annual Festival of World Music in Spain. Other festivals in July include the annual river dustbin race down the Ariège also with bands and fireworks.
Other festivals are arranged by the Festival Committee and details can be found in the tourist centre.
