It was snowing at Alice's home and she was sitting miserably by the window with her kitten, Dinah. Suddenly, Alice had an idea! She jumped up and said to Dinah "Let's pretend to go through the mirror!" She ran across the room to the fireplace, above which was a grand antique looking glass!
Next moment, Alice was up on top of the fireplace with the mirror!
"Oh! How very curious!" exclaimed Alice, "The glass is becoming soft and misty! It's almost as if it was letting me throu………." Without warning, Alice was pulled through the looking glass. She landed on the floor on the other side.
"Oh my! I'm in the looking glass house!" she announced in delight, running to the window. "And it isn't snowing!"
Alice ran to the top of the staircase and to her great surprise, floated down it! The door at the foot of the stairs swung open as she approached it and she floated into the garden! THUD! She landed on the path.
Suddenly a big white rabbit in a waistcoat scurried up to her. He was looking at a pocket watch as he ran and panting, "I'm late! I'm so very, very late! The Queen will surely have my head for this!" Then he dived into a large rabbit hole beside Alice, who quickly followed him!
She fell down, down, down inside the hole for what seemed ages, but it wasn't that the hole was very deep, as it was that she was falling very slowly! Yet again, Alice landed with a THUD! But this time she was in a strange room. Nothing seemed to be the right shape and everything looked crooked and bent! The only thing in the room that was relatively the right shape was a tiny door, about ten inches high.
Alice opened the door and saw a garden full of brightly coloured flowers. She longed to be out there, inhaling the wonderful scents of the beautiful flowers and drinking from the lovely cool fountains. But alas, she was far too big to get through the door.
She looked around the room for another door to the garden but all she could find was a bottle that had 'Drink Me' written neatly on a label that was tied around its neck. Alice wasn't just going to drink out of any old bottle so she examined it carefully. There didn't seem to be anything wrong with it so she raised the bottle to her mouth. No sooner had she taken a sip, she began to shrink rapidly. Soon she was just the right size to go through the door and into the garden.
In the garden, Alice saw a mushroom. A caterpillar told her that one side would make her small and the other would make her tall. She took a bite and was soon her normal height again!
She had a lovely time in the garden, talking to the birds and animals, playing with the butterflies, drinking the fountain's cool water and singing songs with the flowers.

"Oh I've had such a lovely time," sighed Alice, "but now it's time for me to go home." A mirror appeared beside her and when she looked in it, instead of her reflection; she could see Dinah in her house. Alice said goodbye and jumped through the mirror, landing back in her home on the floor. She got up and went to sit next to Dinah by the window. "I had a wonderful adventure," she told her cat, "That place was a real Wonderland!"
