This full page advert for Dumont television sets appeared in 1949. According to the copy, "In a year she will see more of what goes on in the world than the most priviledged and travelled member of an elder generation could have seen in a busy lifetime." Re-runs of Sesame Street permitting of course.
Apparently the 72 square inch direct-view screen gave a "big, clear picture", with FM radio and television on all channels. The traditionally designed cabinet in mahogany veneers was by Herbert Rosengren and the whole thing was yours for a mere $525 plus installation.
