The Caucus race (below) introduces Alice to a whole host of Wonderland creatures. These photographs are from the actual 1947 stage production and the backdrop demonstrates again the use of 'Tenniel-style' cross hatched drawing.

The Caucus Race
he story starts out as "Looking Glass" and Alice pushes her way through into the Looking Glass house, reciting "Jabberwocky" on the way. The White Rabbit goes past and we're back to "Wonderland". Alice follows it into the long hall and drinks from the "Drink Me" bottle, eats the "Eat Me" cake and, before long, ends up in the Pool Of Tears.

Alice meets the Mouse

Alice meets the Mouse (Henry Jones) who tells her his long
(and sad) tale.
Bambi Linn as Alice The rabbit sends Alice for his gloves and fan, but on the way she encounters the Caterpillar.
After taking advice from the Caterpillar (Theodore Tenley), Alice watches as the Fish and Frog Footmen (Don Allen and Robert Rawlings) get their wigs entangled and then visits the Duchess (Raymond Greenleaf).
The Caterpillar and the Duchess's house
After singing a loud lullabye to the Baby, the Duchess goes to get ready for the croquet game. She gives Alice the Baby to hold but when she takes it outside, it promptly turns into a pig.
The Mad Hatters Tea Party The Cheshire Cat (Margaret Webster) appears and directs Alice to the Mad Hatter (Richard Waring) and March Hare (Arthur Keegan), where she attends the "stupidest tea party she'd ever been to."

The Queen of HeartsAlice meets the Queen Of Hearts, (John Beecher). After the Croquet Game, the Queen takes her to see the Mock Turtle.
Alice dances at the croquet game She meets the Gryphon (Jack Manning) and the Mock Turtle (Angus Cairns) with whom she dances the Lobster Quadrille and then listens to the Mock Turtle sing "Beautiful Soup".
