The photographs on these pages are from 'Alice' vintage theatrical productions. Some look like professional plays, others obviously amateur, but apart from the few comments shown, I have no more details of either the productions or the people. Any further information would be appreciated.

Marie Studholme in a revival of the musical play "Alice in Wonderland" by H. Saville Clarke (book) and Walter Slaughter (music) which had first been produced at the Prince of Wales theatre on 23rd December 1886. Her real name was Marion Lupton and she was one of the top actresses of her day and a popular postcard beauty. She was born in the northern English town of Eccleshill on 10th September 1875 and passed away 10th March 1930. She played Alice for the first time at the Prince of Wales theatre, London (West End) at Christmas 1906. (Don Gillan, www.stagebeauty.net)
This 1908 sheet music "for the pianoforte" pictured below had ten tunes inspired by both the "Wonderland" and "Looking Glass" stories.

Nothing known about this production at all, although I wouldn't like any of this lot looking over my shoulder!

Miss Phyllis Griffiths
