Welcome to the Tawrists Cricket Club web site.
We are an amateur cricket club based in the Barnstaple area of North Devon, England, playing predominantly 20-20 evening matches against local pub and club sides in both league and friendly competitions. Our home ground is at Park School, Barnstaple.
Founded in 1979 by employees of the Department of Health and Social Security (now Department for Work and Pensions) the team has grown from strength to strength, widening its membership and winning trophies along the way.
Currently our team competes in the North Devon Pub and Club League, and there is always a full fixture list, including friendly games in such delightful locations as Valley of the Rocks, Westleigh and Weare Gifford.
In the off-season we run winter nets to which all members and guests are welcome to attend.
Complementing the cricket is a full social calendar, including annual events such as the Day of Golf, Summer BBQ, Christmas Dinner & Awards and a trip to the Taunton county ground to watch Somerset CC in a T20.

Finally summer has arrived and the Tawrists season got under way with a league match against Real Tuff at Westleigh.

No cricket has been played so far with the heavy April rains having caused water-logged pitches at Park School and Westleigh.
In addition, Park School Staff were unable to raise a team for the friendly v. Tawrists on 15th May so this match has been postponed.
Let's hope it stays dry for Wednesday 23rd so we can get the season underway!
