SINGING FOR PLEASURE GROUP - November 2008.

There are currently two groups, both meeting at St. Robert’s Centre. The Ladies Group is on Monday mornings from 10 - 12 and the Mixed Group on Wednesday mornings from 10-30 to 1215.

There are no auditions and no musical knowledge is required, just a willingness to have a go! I try to make the repertoire as varied as possible - classical, traditional, songs from shows, nursery rhymes, (second childhood?) The balance is about 1/3 unison and 2/3 part singing. We also practice various duets, trios, and quartets, and I encourage any soloists; all that is purely optional.

Due to an unexpected resignation, there is now a place for a Soprano in the Monday singing group.

I can only accept men into the Wednesday Group as I have to maintain a balance of voices for the part singing.

The Wednesday Group does give a few concerts each year to church groups, residential homes and the like, but the main emphasis is always on meeting together each week to enjoy a jolly good sing. There is a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere with both groups, and I don’t bite!
