Dyno Runs: This page should be a list of other peoples Dyno runs - if you want to enter the hall of fame E-mail me your run. Remember no two dyno's give the same results - all that glitters and all that Dugs YPVS350 tuned by Mick Abbey. stage 2 tune, mick abbey pipes, 5 degrees advanced ignition, 26mm "D" bored powerjet rounslides, 350 mains,-ram air filters, mick abbey re-cut heads, aktive reeds, 6mm reed spacers, flowed reed blocks. running 25:1 putoline pre-mix , br10 egv plugs. ![]() Julian Hanton's File tuned RGV - 70 hp and a very nice curve. Makes my KR (1999) last year look a bit tame. Though the KR is still stronger at 9,000, by about 7 hp, it looses out at the top end.

| Peter Whitesides ZXR400 v the KR
Purple curve is my KR (2000)when I was having the problems caused by the practice tumble at Mallory (we think the problem was damaged crankseals - never did a Dyno run when the engine was running well). The power dying then kicking in made the bike difficult to ride and you really had to cane it to make it go. Easy to see why it is difficult to stay with the 400's at fast tracks - the buggers just rev and rev. Still recorded my best lap at Mallory on that engine so power is not everything (makes you lazy). Hmm...... where can I get a KR1-R? You aren't going to beat a 400 on power with a KR so play to your strengths, weight, handling and most important the brakes. Spend your money on these and good rubber (get a 17" rear) rather than trying to get 70hp. Alternatively give up and buy a 400......
Dave Marsh's ZXR400 looks about 64 hp which seems to be around the figure most of the 400's are putting out. The 70 HP + claimed hasn't yet materialised outside a dyno room. At the trackside dynos the 400s do mid to low 60.
