KR Cup Rules and Prizes V1.07 For 2004

Provisional rules and dates - both may change.

Purpose of the Cup was to primarily to encourage/keep the old Kwack KR two strokes on the track. It is now to keep any two stroke 250 running. The second aim was to raise the standard of the two strokes so that they could compete with the 400's. I believe that if we get a good entry of two strokes in the KR Cup in 2004 a two stroke will win the Derby Phoenix F400.

The KR Cup - Donated by Davy McGeachie For 2004 the KR Cup is being opened up to any road based 250 two stroke. The rules are pretty simple. The bike must be a 250cc road based two stroke eligible for the Derby Phoenix F400 round, i.e. if the scruitineer says it is ok then you are in (RGV250 T, NSR etc are eligible pukka race TZ Yamaha and RS Honda are not)
Cup will run within the F400 class so if you want to score points in the F400 you need to be eligible for that.
Apart from that only rule is that the bike should be 250cc or less.
You must run treaded tires no slicks or cut slicks, wets are allowed (current F400 rules)

Grid positions will be allocated by the club. Format is currently, position for first race of the meeting is based on when Derby Phoenix get your entry. Subsequent races at the meeting are based on your position in the previous race (grid will be based on your position within the F400 race).

The provisional dates for 2004. These may change. Club are trying to get a round at Donnington so that will be 15 days racing.
Date Track Club
27/28 March Snetterton Derby Phoenix
2/3 May Anglesey Derby Phoenix
31 May Mallory Derby Phoenix
26/27 June Cadwell Full Derby Phoenix
4 July Mallory Park Derby Phoenix
17 July Oulton Park Derby Phoenix
24/25 July Croft Derby Phoenix
7/8 August Cadwell Full Derby Phoenix
5 September Mallory Park Derby Phoenix

Points - in previous years we ran a handicap system. For 2004 we will try no handicap or points for improving (apologies to anybody that has got a KR for 2004 and expected to run 2003 type rules but with other types of two strokes being allowed in for 2004 I had them complaining that it would be unfair to handicap more modern machines [RGV, Aprilia etc] as the KR's were consistently the fast two strokes?). So for 2004 the point structure will be as follows for each race (Note : this is different to the normal Derby Phoenix points system).
 Position  Points
 1st  15
 2nd  12
 3rd  10
 4th  8
 5th  6
 6th  4
 7th  2
 8th or lower  1

Prizes - At end of the year the winner gets their name on the KR Cup and £150. 2nd gets £100, 3rd £50 and the top novice gets £50. In addition to the prize money you get a trophy.
Special Prize- Just to add a bit of spice if a two stroke wins the Derby Phoenix F400 championship in 2004 they will win £150.

Plenty of weekend meetings - this may be good or bad depends on your point of view. Personally I like 'em. Bit busy in July though so start saving now!!
It is crucial that you get your entries in early this not only determines your grid position for the first race it also ensures you get a ride. Derby Phoenix F400 rounds were chronically oversubscribed. When you receive your entry from Derby Phoenix, and if you are planning on competing at all rounds, send off your entry with the deposit (£40 per day which is not cashed until the closing date for the race, i.e. it doesn't cost initially). This will ensure you get a half decent grid position and an entry.
Send me a piccy of your bike and I will add it to the Rider/Bike page
