KR Cup Rules and Prizes V1.11 For 2005

Provisional rules and dates - both may change. Updated 4 April 2005.

Purpose of the Cup was to primarily to encourage/keep the old Kwack KR two strokes on the track. It is now to keep any two stroke 250 running. The second aim was to raise the standard of the two strokes so that they could compete with the 400's. In 2004 we were still a bit behind but two strokes did win at Cadwell and Oulton. 2004 was the most succesful year yet. Opening up the series to any two stroke has gone down well. 2005 has got to be the year of the two stroke?

The KR Cup - Donated by Davy McGeachie For 2005 the KR Cup is open to any road based 250 two stroke. The rules are pretty simple. The bike must be a 250cc road based two stroke eligible for the Derby Phoenix F400 round, i.e. if the scruitineer says it is ok then you are in (RGV250 VJ23, NSR, all Yamaha TZR etc are eligible pukka race TZ Yamaha and RS Honda are not ). You must use the frame and crankcases off a road bike - hence TZ engine or frame is not allowed likewise for the RS honda.
The Cup will run within the F400 class so if you want to score points in the F400 you need to be eligible for that.
Apart from that the only rule is that the bike should be 250cc or less.
You must run treaded tires no slicks or cut slicks, wets are allowed (current F400 rules)
Grid positions will be allocated by the club. Proposed format is for the first race of a meeting the first 4 rows by position in championship except for the first race of the first event of the year which is the usual lottery, i.e. when your entry was received. Subsequent races at a meeting by your finish in the previous race - with your position on two day events carried over from Saturday to Sunday. For the first race the remaining rows after the first four are allocated by when the club received your entry (Note all grid places will be based on your position within the F400 race and championship).

Dates & Circuits - The provisional dates for 2005. Note these may change. Derby Phoenix are organising an excellent selection of circuits most of which are really good 250 circuits.

Points - For 2005 we will run MotoGP/BSB/WSB points system.
 Position  Points  Position  Points
 1st  25  9th  7
 2nd  20  10th  6
 3rd  16  11th  5
 4th  13  12th  4
 5th  11  13th  3
 6th  10  14th  2
 7th  9  15th  1
 8th  8  rest  0
Note: These points apply to each race so though Derby Phoenix are going to give double points for the single race at Croft on Sunday, for the KR Cup you will only score single points (one race one set of points).

Prizes - At end of the year the winner gets their name on the KR Cup and £200. 2nd gets £130, 3rd £70 and the top novice gets £50. In addition to the prize money you get a trophy. <Note prize money is currently under review - it will be going up. Sponsorship of individual rounds is being sold and proceeds go into the prize fund. Suzuki RGV forum are the first by sponsoring the May Cadwell round and the Snetterton round - The fund currently stands at £650 + the special prize>

Special Prize- We have a roll over. A two stroke didn't win the 2004 F400 so the prize money comes into 2005 and we add another £150 to the total. So for 2005, if a two stroke wins the Derby Phoenix F400 championship you get £300, on top of the £200 for winning the KR Cup.

Entries - It is crucial that you get your entries in early this not only determines your grid position for the very first race of the year it also ensures you get a ride. Derby Phoenix F400 rounds were oversubscribed in 2004. When you receive your entry from Derby Phoenix, and if you are planning on competing at all rounds, send off your entry with the deposit (it used to be £50 per day which is not cashed until the closing date for the race, i.e. it doesn't cost initially). This will ensure you an entry.
Transponders - I am afraid you will need these to race with Derby Phoenix. Cost is about £200 type is a TransX 260 get in touch with Derby Phoenix to confirm type and availability. This type of transponder has been adopted by all the Motorcycle Racing clubs I know that have gone over to using them.

Send me a piccy of your bike and I will add it to the Rider/Bike page
