Trucco’s
brand new show comprising three full length contemporary dance
and physical theatre pieces is choreographed by Ann Lazenby, Lula
Russell and the dancers of the company.
The first
part – Ancient 7 Wonders - is presented
in the form of abstract movement and is in itself split into seven
different sections, each representing an individual ‘Wonder’.
Hope
is the Future is inspired by a number of news events
of 2005, including the London bombings and the ‘bird flu’
epidemic. It is a modern adaptation of Pandora’s Box. Here,
however, the box is represented by a television set, which takes
the audience on a wild journey through humour, tragedy, beauty
and raw emotion.
The final
piece – Bingo - is an insight into human
behaviour at one particular kind of social gathering – ‘the
bingo night’. It explores the inner selves of a range of
different characters, laying bare the secrets they each hold through
a vibrant performance mixture of contemporary dance and physical
theatre.
