There were no diary entries by this stage of the war. There was probably a quiet period leading up to this point as part of the deception plan prior to the assault. No British guns were fired from arrival until 6 hours before the attack. This then was the start of a major offensive, to cross the river Piave, by 10th Italian Army comprising XIth and XVIII Italian Corps and XIVth British Corps (23 Div and 7 Div). The Battery position at war's end in the Italian theatre on 4th November was Pordenone, about 40km NE from here. |
