This is not the official site of the school, although Doikum School has kindly given permission for their e-mail address to be included.

Like all schools everywhere, the teachers at Doikum School are always very busy.

Please help them by sending any inquiries on visiting Thailand to the Webmaster, (who will be happy to assist), and not the school.

Thank you.

This website is considered suitable for UK schools with pupils between the ages of 7 and 11 years old ( and anyone older who is interested !)

Hello. This website is all about a school I visited while on holiday in the city of Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand, during January 2004.

Thailand is a very big country, much larger than the United Kingdom where we live.

It is about as big as France and a long way away - about 8,000 miles or 13,000 Kilometres.

It takes about 13 hours to fly to Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand, from our capital city London. I had to wait two hours in Bangkok Airport for a plane to fly from Bangkok to Chiang Mai which took another hour and a half.

I booked my holiday with "SAGA" , a travel company, as they had lots of half and full day tours to see interesting places and things outside of Chiang Mai.

One tour included a visit to Doikum School.

Only people who book their holiday with SAGA can visit the school.

Doikum School is south of Chiang Mai, near a village called Mae Tha, which is between the towns of Lamphun and Lampang.( See the maps below).

I looked forward to this visit for a long time before I went to Thailand because, while I know quite a lot about Thailand, and how the Thai people live, I knew very little about Thai schools.

This is because Thailand`s schools, just like yours, are not usually open to tourist visits !

But things did not quite go as planned when I first tried to visit the School.
