St. John's Centre

The Centre opened in October 2001. It was built with the help of a Community Fund grant of £200,000 and over £350,000 raised by the members of St. John’s and the community of Merrow.   It is used by many community and care groups and is also available for private functions such as Weddings, Baptisms and Funerals, as well as children and adults’ parties.

Ground Floor Accommodation:

The Foyer with its spacious and welcoming aspect is a place where people love to drop in for a chat and coffee served by friendly volunteers. It is ideal for receiving wedding guests and can also be used for hospitality or arranging displays.

The Foyer, St. John's Centre

T
he Main Hall is very attractive with beams and a light oak wood floor. It is large enough to seat 175 in theatre fashion and up to 150 at tables. There are flexible facilities for staging and lighting to suit drama productions and it is a popular venue for all functions. When needed, additional room can be obtained by opening the two sets or arched glass doors between Hall and Foyer.

The Small Hall can seat about 40 people. With its doors to the peaceful churchyard and patio area, this is ideal for community groups, smaller meetings and informal occasions.

The Kitchen is well equipped and has two serving hatches, which open onto the main hall and the foyer.

First floor accomodation:

The Seminar Room, with a seating capacity for about 60 people, can be divided into two.

The Meeting Room, with its white board, can be used for committee and group meetings.

The Quiet Room is reserved for sessions such as bereavement counselling, volunteer groups and for parish, deanery and diocesan meetings.

Useful Information

Disabled Access: The ground floor is all on one level with a separate WC designed for wheelchair users. There is a wheelchair lift to the first floor. Both halls are fitted with an induction loop system.

Car Parking: The car park can take up to 26 cars and further parking space is available in the village car park.
