The Club

The idea for Oxford EuroClub came in Spring 1999 from David Lee, who had been a member of the Thames EuroClub at Reading and wished to establish a similar organisation nearer home.

The aim of the Club is to encourage understanding and learning of other languages and cultures. At some meetings we are lucky enough to have one or more native speakers on hand, who tend to 'lead' the sessions in a very informal way. Sometimes a theme for the evening will have been chosen, but do not worry if you have not had time to prepare. The Club is deliberately less formal than traditional evening classes; all levels are always welcome.

The main Western European languages are currently covered; there is always scope to expand subject to demand.

Meetings are generally scheduled for weekday evenings between 8pm and 10pm. Please come for as long as you can, and bring any friends who may be interested. If you cannot immediately find the group, ask at the bar or look out for language dictionaries on a table.

The subscription rate is just £5 per person (£8 per couple) per year. Click here for a form. Subscriptions are managed by Roger (see contact details below).

We intend to run a regular programme of social events, generally open to all. See below for current dates. Members and partners are most welcome at all events.

We look forward to seeing you!
