Two track sampler doing the rounds and both tunes on offer as superb!
'All Over' is a fantastic vocal cut that oozes soul as it subtly builds in it's gentle way. 'Style' is a percussive gem that will have you up on their feet as soon as it kicks off - you can hear the crowd clapping along in the background, which is nice because you can really feel the atmosphere of the gig. A third of the way Style drops to a superb smooth funky groove that is topped with wicked lyrics; with flute samples and subtle jazz pianos that conjure up a spell that is as headphone friendly as it is danceable, this has Dig Deep written all over it - ace! You definitely need to check the full CD / DVD. Check the DVD trailer below...
Press Release
[re:jazz] is back in 2008 with a brand new 2-disc release feat. their first live
album recorded at the Motion Blue in Yokohama and a dvd documentary by Markus
Bader, filmed during the Japan tour in April 2007. Beside fantastic live
versions of their greatest interpretations from past releases you will hear two
brand new recordings on this live album for the first time. "All over" a tune
written by Inga Luehning and "Can you live" a re-interpretation of a tune
written by Volker Meitz.
In addition to the studio album releases you have a chance to experience also
the known [re:jazz] tunes in a new way. As there were many guests on the studio
recordings with guests like Lisa Bassenge (All I need) or Joy Denelane (Torch of
freedom), live you will here these titles re- interpreted by the fantastic voice
of Inga Luehning.
Also the arrangements of the tunes are different to the studio recordings. A
highlight for sure is "All I need" with it's new and intense udo solo by
percussionist Heiko Himmighoffen.
"People hold on", a big band version on the last album Expansion, is transformed
into s swing version for the septet.
Beside the live album there is a 90 minutes dvd documentary about [re:jazz]
touring and performing live in Japan with interviews, statements from and about
[re:jazz] to give you a closer image of the group itself. Combined with
impressions from Japan and the wonderful people they met during their tour, the
dvd is more then a pure concert dvd. It takes you on a journey with the band to
Japan.
