The LP is produced really nicely, ensuring it sounds great on
a loud PA, and there is enough choice and variety to please every kind of beat
head. Up there with the very best, but I wouldn't expect anything less from Mark
Rae and the hotly tipped Rhys Adams!
Champion Sounds is a sure fire grower, the right kind of UK flavoured hip
hop. Heavy weight beats and quality lyrics from Kenny Knotts, Baby
Chann and Mystro set the LP off in style.
I am not mad on Style come different but it's one for
the 80's electrofunk heads. I can see Greg Wilson heads being into this.
Circles is all about the track for me. A lovely funk based reggae cut
with horns to die for. Decent RnB styled mic work from the ever great Ayak puts
the cherry on the top with her in her appeal way that doesn't sell out.
One of those days is an instantly loveable, phat, lazy funk flavoured
beats gem for the head nodders to lounge. Mystro delivers some dope lyrics
ensuring this will definitely appeal to real hip hop lovers.
Loving the breaks on Crunch, it's blended to perfection with ace lyrics
and delivery from Tor, Baby Chann, Ayak and Mystro.
War features Kennt Knotts and is more rocked up, a bit like Black Belt
Jones. I really like the start and the Roots vibe of the track, but I am not
in love with the vocals. Loving the horns 2.40 in though!
Rock this world featuring Dawn Penn is a slow smoky hip grinder
for those who like the phat ass. Top opening lines on the mc front making this
the one for the right kind of hip hoppers.
40 Long Days features Veba and she's ace! An instant bomb for me.
This has to be my favourite uptempo cut. Great souly lyrics from Pete Simson
and Veba sounds brilliant as ever on the hook - it instantly stays stuck in your
head and will have the girls singing along in an instant. Potential future
single I reckon. Ayak's speedy delivery is also impressive over the raw
break. This is big.
Love Revolution is another quality hip hopper that reminds me a bit of
Platinum Pied Pipers. Another infectious hook and decent lyrics from
Ayak and I am feeling the bassline on this.
Tomorrow is another day is nice dub heavy track for early doors in the
clubs.
Claudes Theme is a beautifully blissed out beats track that will make a
great bed for radio jocks, as well as being a useful warm up track.
Elevate is this LPs Spellbound, so it's safe to say they have
saved one of the best to last! Appealing to both the nu soul and the beat
heads, this oozes soul and has a very likeable intro.
Bonus remix tracks:
Best remix comes from Neon Heights and they take Love Revolution
down a snakey path that sounds really heavy played loud. A great mash up
of hip hop, dancehall and ragga that is spot on the itchy vibe.
The Richie Phoe remix of Crunch is not bad at all, initially I thought it wasn't up to the LP standard, but it is a grower.
The Monde Green remix of Style come different is very different, somewhere between ragga, deep 4/4, breaks and dubstep, so it's definitely going to lapped up by those loving that phat experimental new UK sound that's appealing to the fresher music heads.
