Countdown, the first track I have
heard from the forthcoming HEAVy album 'Jazzmoney$$', is a blistering hip hop
soul cut that should be decimating dancefloors world wide . Somewhere between
N*E*R*D and the broken soul sound of BITA, Countdown is ideal "for when
your girls just wants to dance" but will also be dropping jaws on the more
creative side of dance. First class rudeness on this slamming future classic!
HEAVy are young and fresh, comprising of Nicky Guiland and Casey Benjamin - both
hailing from the rich hotbed of musical heritage that is Jamaica, Queens, NY.
The two have seized the baton from their wide range of influences, from Rotary
Connection and Herbie Hancock to N*E*R*D and poured a vibrant synthesis of soul,
pop, hip-hop and rock in Jazzmoney$$.
The label tells us if you like Black Eyed Peas, Pharrell, Gwen Stefani – you
will like HEAVy, but we think it goes a lot deeper than that. Their influences,
merged with a bit of '80's nostalgia, create an undeniably unique and timely
sound. With production and lyrical skills as distinctive as these in the bag, there is
no holding back this HEAVy duo.
