More brilliant remixes of this super tight soul outfit than you could dream of. Just one look down the track listing is enough to raise any true music lovers heart beat. Enough styles on offer you could make a set out off this LP alone!
Each track is a winner but stand out tracks for me have to be Mr Scruff's funky break and flute laiden take (check the bassline on a loud PA) and Afronaught's killer drum work out - he drops a massive broken beat rework that should decimate all the right dance floors at the right time.
As for the rest of the gems in the vault; new BBE signing Aaron Jerome delivers a well crafted remix that is somewhere between Bugz In The Attic, 4 Hero and a raft of decent funky break based producers. Rob Life cuts off a phat slice of old school funk breaks and wraps them up in a Quantic Soul Orchestra flavoured ass mover.
Fast rising Dynamics tantalize us with their trademark dubfunk vibes for the reggae soul lovers
. Mike Slot's ace stuttering future hip hop jazz will appeal to the Prefuse 73 heads. The next two are for the Sonar Kollectiv lovers; Blackbeard goes all uptempo 4/4 but keep it's techy and dubby organ based whilst Simbad keeps it's in the future with brilliant his broken techno soul style - deep.Lack of Afro keep it live sounding for the pure funk heads, Ghost opt for a laid back head nodder that is a bit of a grower and Elizabeth Shepherd Trio rip it up at the end with a rolling latin flavoured nu jazz gem that the likes of Nicola Conte, Gerardo Frisina et al would be proud of.
Easily the best remix LP of the year... Buy, buy, buy!
