The Painted Race

Racing Cars numbered 1 to 8 are lined up on the race grid.

The boot and bonnet of each car have been painted by their owner/driver, each to their own taste.

Car No. Boot/Trunk Bonnet/Hood

The freshly painted blue boot on one car clashes horribly with its yellow bonnet, whilst along the grid at a higher number the black boot does not combine well with a blue bonnet. The white boot is at a number on the grid 2 lower than the white bonnet, but the grey boot is at a higher number than the grey bonnet. The yellow booted car is at an odd numbered grid position; it is next to the green booted car, which is not paired with the red bonnet. The black bonnet is at a number 4 lower on the grid than the brown boot, which is next to the brown bonnet.

The grey boot has an even number 4 higher than the green bonnet, while the car with the matching boot & bonnet has a black boot directly on one side of it and a black bonnet directly on the other. The red bonnet is at a number 6 higher than the red boot, and 1 higher than the white boot.
