You can park on the verge at SH556378 at the start of the marked track heading NW. Just after passing a gate and a stream the track forks, the right hand path being the right of way marked on the map. The going is quite boggy in parts having been trampled by a local herd of horses, but it leads to a track (not marked on my 1994 map) which heads E-W along the 190m contour. There is a stile over the wall at 552389 with a well marked path heading NW up the crag to the summit (on which the trig point is obviously not the highest point). (1 hr, 2 miles, 750' of ascent)
