About the R.I.B
"The Orange Box" is an Avon 4.7m SuperSport R.I.B (Rigid [hulled], Inflatable Boat), powered by a 45hp Honda Four Stroke outboard and replaced a 30hp 4.5m Tornado RIB "Tango" in Feb 2005.
"The Orange Box" started its cruising life in the Wirral and came North in February 2005 to cruise the Firth of Clyde.
About the Site
This site and frequently updated blog should hopefully provide an insight into a great hobby, samples of some of the fantastic scenery of the area and hopefully, some humorous accounts of some of our trips!
Our cruising area to date covers Largs & Cowal areas, the islands of Great Cumbrae, Little Cumbrae, Arran, Bute & Inchmarnock. This gives us opportunities to visit towns & villages such as Millport, Lamlash, Brodick, Corrie, Sannox, Lochranza, Kames, Tighnabruiach, Port Bannatyne, Colintraive, Kilchattan, Kerrycroy, Rothesay and some of the most fantastic views & scenery in the Firth of Clyde! (The pubs and hotels ain't bad either!)
Seals, porpoise, dolphin, basking sharks & every conceivable type of seabird are all some of the possible wildlife to be sighted.
