Polymer Clay Necklaces

The Fisher
This tiny kingfisher has seen the ripples on the water and knows that a fish has appeared after his long vigile. His mate will be waiting in their nest in the mudbank as she sits upon her eggs.
Made with Premo clay, a copper armature and beads including a tiny butterfly. I added Swarovski crystals to the flowers and the kingfisher. Strung with glass beads and freshwater pearls. Clasped with a copper S clasp. I used copper rather than silver as it just seemed to go with the colours in the reeds and the kingfisher.
Art Nouveau
I just love this style of art and wanted to make something really curvacious so I started with an armature of 16 gage sterling silver wire with leaves flowing gracefully up the wire and a large long petalled flower and bud, studded with freshwater pearls. The center of the flower is a large faceted Amethyst while the leaf on the right has a stem of tiny glass beads.
I was also inspired by the clay work of Christi Friesen.
Woodland
I really enjoyed making this necklace. I set the clay leaves on a copper armature and added flowers with tiny crystal centers. The pond is a piece of agate encased in a clay setting, I think the flowers set it off well as it looked too bare without them. The large rectangular stone is a piece of Australian Rainforest Jasper as the colours work so well. I added lots of glass beads, Rainforest Jasper rounds, the dangly leaf on the left is Tigereye. I added lots of copper beads in different shapes including a little copper butterfly. The chains are a warm coloured vintage brass. It's fastened with a copper toggle clasp.
Dusky Pink/Silver Calla Lily
A sterling silver hand wrapped Calla Lilly in dusky pink, adorned with Swarovski crystal stamens, hand made floral lampwork beads, silver tube and other beads and Swarovski crystals and finished with a silver chain.
It is a pretty example of what can be done with one of my calla lily beads.
Flight of Dragons
This piece was made for a challenge. The inspiration was a gorgeous scarlet African Dragonfly.
The centerpiece of the necklace is a fabulous mythical scarlet phoenix dragon with two dragonflies on either side above him, their curved bodies are Carnelian tubes, gold saucers and pearls on 14kgf gold wire. Their heads which you can just see were made from vermeil bead caps. The body of the necklace is Carnelian, beautiful white Baroque Pearls and gold saucers and beads. It is fastened with a gold vermeil S clasp. Certainly not for the shy person to wear!
Saphira
Saphira swooped yet again as the Ice Star slipped through her paws. Down, down through the swirling particles of ice, the star falling before her. She was beginning to wish the quest had never been hers and she was safe at home in the great Ice Tower with the queen. Below her the fields of snow and ice became clearer, her wings battered against the wind Saphira shot forward in one last great effort. Her long arms and fingers fully extended and caught at the thin silver cord, this time it did not slip away from her, she had it fast, with a great cry Saphira leaped upward, her prize the Ice Star tightly gripped, as she set off on the long journey homeward.

Saphira has Onyx eyes and is embellished with pearls and Swarovski crystals. In her paws she clasps a silver wrapped Swarovski crystal star. The two strands of the necklace are comprised of Swarovski crystals, rock crystal, Blue Topaz buttons, pearls and seed beads. I thoroughly enjoyed creating this necklace as it allowed me full artistic reign. I will be making more!
Inspired by the technique of Christi Friesen.

Hand made necklace with polymer clay and emeralds
Heart of the Oak
I just had to show you my new autumn necklace. I have had oak leaves in mind for a necklace for a while and this time of year just sparked my inspiration. I used beautiful pale gold freshwater pearls, tiny bronze square glass beads, gold bead caps and the centers of the flowers are gold coated Swarovski crystals. The central pendant contains an emerald clasped in leaves, and emerald rondelles.
The necklace looks wonderful over sweaters and long sleeved tees.
I love it!
