THE ADMIRALTY HAS GRANTED LBK6 THE HONOUR OF FLYING THE WHITE ENSIGN FOR THE COMMEMORATION, AS SHE DID ON D-DAY.

HMLBK6  IS IN OUR CLUB COMPOUND AT GAS HOUSE CREEK, HARWICH.

SHE IS CURRENTLY UNDER REFURBISHMENT AS OUR NEW CLUB PREMISES.

The RNA, MNA, Royal British Legion, RAFA and Trinity house will all be represented with their standards, together with Normandy veterans, and members of the SF and Landing Craft Association, and other service organizations.

The Club will be open from 11am onwards, and will be providing tea, coffee and biscuits before the Commemoration. Our Padre is ex RN, having served in the Arctic Convoys in WW11. After the Commemoration we will be providing a light buffet lunch for members & veterans and their families.

The Bar will also be open.

HOW TO FIND US.

See map on our Website under contacts, or take A12 to Colchester, and then A120 to Harwich. Keep going straight over all the roundabouts, including the one for Harwich International Port, don’t turn off anywhere. As you approach Old Harwich, on your left you will see mudflats or open water if tide up, and yacht masts ahead of you in the distance, on the waters edge behind the sea wall, and you will see ahead that the road takes a bend to the left round a grey building with what looks like a representation of a lighthouse lantern on the roof. Just before the bend there is a large traffic sign which says Harwich A120, and underneath Bathside, with a right pointing arrow. We are sharp left here, and it looks like a car compound, but we are behind the sea wall through the gate on the right. There will be signs up. Parking is available.

Someone will be about to help everyone get parked. The entrance to the club is the gate on the right.

If in doubt phone, 01255 503975 Shirley Constable, Rear Commodore, or Mobile 07887921868.

LBK6 is here !!

LBK6 was towed into Harwich on Wednesday 2nd April 2008 by the tug ALA and her crew.  A small group went out on "Mythril" owned by Tony Woods to escort her in.

A reasonable crowd welcomed LBK6 into Happenny Pier where she was to spend the next couple of nights.

On Friday 4th April LBK6 was towed to her new home by the Harwich Haven vessel "Hornbill"

After a lot of pushing and shoving LKB6 was secured both to the shore and with a couple of very large anchors into the mud.

Now she is here the decisions about our new home and the work can begin.
