Dick's Tokai Strat. (Springysound?? Who came up with that name?) Dick's daughter, Hannah, spotted this in a second-hand shop in Watford. She said, "Daddy - there's a guitar in that shop window just like yours." She obviously recognised it as being the same type as his '57 re-issue. When Dick went to investigate, he found this amazing early Tokai sitting in a Hiscox case. At £200  it was a bargain - it is in almost every respect as good if not better than anything to come out of the Fender factory. The only thing that might let it down a bit is the cast monkey-metal bridge - unfortunately it can't be changed for a steel one because the screw positioning is slightly different. Anyway, it has a set of Texas specials fitted and good old Mark Pressling re-fretted and re-lacquered the neck, so it sounds and plays really well.
