Dick’s 1968
Harmony H76. "During a period in the mid sixties, Harmony made 50% of the
U.S. industry's guitars. A one point they were selling 1000 a day! They
were usually of low to mid range in cost but were always highly playable
and good-sounding instruments with a definite character of their own -
in much the same way as guitars made by the Kay company. For a short
while they upped the quality ante and aimed for the professional market
with variations on these double cutaway 335-alikes. The quality and
finish is indeed high and there is nothing to criticise in the build and
sound of this absolute beauty. It came from an outfit called Roadworthy
Guitars in Indiana who advertised it by saying that it looks like it was
made yesterday. They weren't wrong. I can't understand how a 36 year-old
guitar can be this pristine - it actually looks totally brand new. Must
have spent a long time under the bed!"
