Dick’s Burns Vibra
Artist. "I have David Martin to thank for letting this go to me. I'd been
after one for a long time but nothing playable had ever turned up. When
I walked into 2002's Shaddicts bash and saw David holding this monster,
my chin hit the floor and he only stopped my drooling and blathering by
offering to sell it to me. To all intents and purposes this is a new
guitar, however, despite having been originally built around 1960. The reason for this is that, apparently, when David
commissioned genius builder and repairer Martin Harrison to make a new
neck for it, since the old one had gone the bow-and-arrow route of many old
Burnses, Martin informed him that the body was in too bad a shape to
attach it to, and suggested he renew the whole thing. A brilliant job he
made, too. The electrics and hardware are all original and, of course,
the controls are completely beyond
comprehension! This is one of my favourite guitars and I'm very proud of
it. I'm a big fan of The Searchers and as this guitar played a big part
in their early sound, I'm over the moon to have an operating
example. Sounds like nothing else! Weird and very wonderful."
