Dick’s DeArmond
M77T. "Another eBay result! I didn't think one of these
would ever turn up but there it was on eBay UK of all places. The
last few seconds of the auction were a bit of a scrabble - it's such a
great feeling when the "you've won the auction" page comes
up! I replaced the transparent pickguard with a gold one from a US
company called "Pickguardian" - they're on the net. I
can highly recommend these guys - the service is quick and very good
value for money - far cheaper than anything you could get in this
country. I also replaced the knobs for chrome Tele ones.
These guitars came at the very end of the DeArmond line and although
they appear to be the same as the M75T, the neck angle is shallower,
which means a lower break-angle over the bridge, consequently the
tension-bar style Bigsby has no real problem staying in tune.
Also, they are purported to have "sound chambers" inside the
body, unlike the M75T which is solid. I must say I have my doubts
about this because I can see no sign of them and the guitar's actually
heavier than my 75, which doesn't make much sense. It's a very
pretty guitar though and plays and sounds great."
