Responding to three universal needs. We live at a great turning point in history. As we stand at the beginning of a new millennium, empires are falling, economies are faltering and ideologies are failing. But suddenly at the same time, new religious, political and economic freedoms are appearing. The resulting changes have brought despair and unrest to millions of men and women throughout the world. With these, however, come new opportunities for personal growth and fulfillment, and better ways to meet the three most basic, universal needs. |
| Spiritual
needs. In more nations than ever, people are free to publicly ask searching questions about truth, values, God and eternity. Is there any real basis for hope? Is God there? Can He be known? How does He care? What does He require of me? People need the truth that can be found only in God's Word, but often Muslims, Hindus, New Agers, cultists and even many "Christians" are offering damning half-truths and actual untruths. Even evangelical missionaries rarely venture beyond the offer of personal salvation. | Read about the work RCM has done to meet these needs. | |
| Human needs -- physical and cultural. As communist economies crumble, as tyrannical regimes let children starve, as welfare states deliver increasingly inferior services - with more inflation and higher taxes -- millions ask: How can I afford to feed, clothe and educate my family? What is the way out? Many groups, Christian and secular, offer emergency relief, but it is not enough and always runs out. People need biblical direction, genuine discipleship and clear perspectives if they are to dispense with dependency-building charity, get their lives together, get the necessaIy education, become responsible, productive citizens and build a solid future for their families. |

needs. In every nation, people, disillusioned with their civil governments, know these governments need to be reformed or even remade from the ground up. And so they ask such questions as: Upon what values or truths should my country be rebuilt? What role should I have in this important process? Can I really make any difference? Does God have anythvng to say about such things? Who are offering answers? Primarily government bureaucrats and secular experts--conservative and liberal--men with little fear or reverence for God, and scant knowledge of biblical principles of economics and government. Unfortunately, few Christian leaders have the theological insight, let alone the vision, of a biblical world/life view. Fewer yet are missionaries with the knowledge needed to convincingly explain the Scriptural truths on which nations must be rebuilt and reformed, if they are to balance freedom with order and justice, and truly prosper under God's grace. |
