Dr Gordon Munro Gordon Munro was born and brought up on the Black Isle in the north of Scotland.  He studied music at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD), winning prizes in Music History and Choral Conducting, and graduated BEd (Music) with first class honours in 1994.  Gordon then undertook postgraduate research into Scottish Music and the history of the Scottish song schoold (1500-1700) with Dr Kenneth Elliot at the University of Glasgow.  He completed his PhD there in 1999 and has since published various articles on the subject and editions of the music.

Gordon has advised the Church of Scotland's Committee to Revise the Church Hymnary ('CH4') and taught part-time at the Music School at Douglas Academy.  He has lectured at the University of Glasgow and the RSAMD where he is now Head of the Department of Academic Studies and Joint Director of the BEd (Music) programme.  Gordon is a Trustee and Assistant General Editor of Musica Scotia publications, a specialist publisher of Scottish Music.  This is Gordon's third season as Musical Director of Thomas Coats Memorial Choral Society.  You can visit Gordon's website by clicking here.
