TENBY RABBITS SOCIETY

CONSTITUTION 2003-2004

 

1 Membership-

Membership of the Society is open to members, and ex. Members (03), of the Tenby Golf Club whose playing handicap is 15 and above on payment of the joining fee.

 

2 The Committee-

      (a) The management of the affairs of the Society will be vested in the General    Committee, to consist of: -

(i) Captain / Chairman (responsible for arranging the Summer League fixtures).

(ii) Vice-Captain (responsible for organisation of the Winter League Substitutes).

(iii) Treasurer.

(iv) Secretary.

(v) Immediate Past Captain.

(vi) Three other members elected to serve on the committee

      (b) One half of the Committee will constitute a quorum.

      (c) All officers and Committee members will be elected at an Annual General   Meeting by a show of hands or a ballot if requested by a member.

      (d) The Captain / Chairman shall have the casting vote.

 

3 Meetings-

(a) The Annual General Meeting will be held when at least 21 days notice will be given. Notices of motion, and election of officer’s must be handed in to the Secretary at least 14 days before the meeting and displayed on the Rabbits notice board.

(b) Extraordinary General Meetings may be called by….

             (i) The Committee.

             (ii) Not less than 25% of the membership.

Notice of such meetings must be given at least 7 days before the meeting. A two-thirds majority will be required to confirm any decision.

 

4 Conduct-

The Committee may terminate or suspend the membership of any member who in their opinion is unworthy of that privilege.

 

5 Changes to the Constitution-

Changes to the Constitution may only be made at an Annual or Extraordinary General Meeting after due notice has been given. In the event of any question or matter arising which is not provided for in the Constitution, the Committee, whose decision shall be final, shall deal with such question or matter.

 

Rules: -

              I.The society’s winter league teams shall consist of two players – one drawn from a list of lower handicap players and paired with a player from of a higher handicap. Dividing into equal groups the number of regular players forming the Winter League shall derive the list. No two players shall be drawn together as partners for consecutive seasons. (99/00)

           II.The winter league shall be played as American foursomes (03) with stroke allowance of half the difference between the combined handicaps of each team pair. The league shall be based on two points for a win and one point for a half.

         III.After the start of a match a match may be conceded at anytime and pairs may agree a half if severe conditions prevail, or poor health is the legitimate reason. Providing all four players agree. Rules of golf 2-4 & 6a

        IV.All matches shall be played on the day and in the sequence specified, normally following the Divot society matches. The course to be played shall decide by either the Tenby golf club or the Rabbits Captain and must be adhered to by all parties. Any team not ready to start at the designated time shall revert to last tee off for that week.

           V.A team failing to turn up will forfeit match points and they will be awarded to their opponents.

        VI.In the event of very bad weather the Committee will meet before 9.00am to vote on postponement or cancellation. If the match cannot be re-arranged then point for the game will be awarded as a half

      VII.Vacancies for the winter league will be filled at the Committee’s discretion with Winter League substitutes and last year’s members having priority.

   VIII.Ties: - In the event of a tie for first place an eighteen-hole playoff to be completed with in a three-week period. In the event of a tie for minor positions a sudden death playoff.

VIIII   Players are requested not to miss more than three winter league appearances or they will have their status as a player reviewed by the committee. A maximum of eight substitutes per team unless prior notification to the Committee (96). Full playing members of the Winter league must notify the Vice-Captain before 20.00hrs on the Wednesday night if they are unable to play, otherwise it is their responsibly to find a substitute (04).

X   Regular and substitute players must pay the society subscription of £6.00 (03) –before the commencement of play on the first day of their Winter League match.

 

6. Dissolution.

The Society will be dissolved if a majority of members attending a meeting for that purpose only shall so decide and any assets that remain after satisfaction of all debts shall be distributed among members of the society.

 

Suffix: the Constitution will have no bearing on the Rabbits Three Counties Rules. It is the Vice-Captain’s responsibility, who on taking office of Rabbits Captain. will arrange the Summer League fixtures for the following year. It will also be the duty of the Vice-Captain to arrange the annual outing at the end of the Winter League season, for his year of office
