L.A.S. ZANDER LURE MATCH 2005

Sponsored by HARRIS-SPORTSMAIL

SUNDAY 9TH OCTOBER, GLOUCESTER CANAL.

Fish 11am – 6pm. Meet Pilot Pub car park at Quedgeley, just south of Gloucester.

After last years superb results, (best zander 7lb 9oz, and many people caught their first zander) we look forward to fishing this venue again.

With several miles of water, some of it can be fished on both sides, there is plenty of room for everybody, some stretches you can fish and not see another angler all day! Remember, the central depth is 15 foot, and it’s a wide canal. Zander to over 14lb have been recorded here and they are growing and spreading all the time.

Read up on  jigging with soft plastics in the LAS magazines as this tends to be a big producer, but don’t forget deep running spinnerbaits, sinking crankbaits fished running or sink and draw close to the bottom could be the winning method.

Prizes will be presented on the day to the winners, first prize best zander, next, best total weight of zander caught, other prizes for zander will be made. Although this is a zander match, a special prize for the best pike will be given as there are some huge pike in the canal (recently a 37lb’er was recorded) and at last years match a 16 lb’er was caught. All competitors will receive a Storm Wildeye lure to try (a good zander lure), main prizes are normally rods, or equivalent.

Again, to make life easier for everyone, we are going to take the money and hand out weigh cards on the day (so no sending off with a stamped addressed envelope), please arrive a bit early to check in, payment by cheque is preferable.

If you have not been before and need a map, email me on higherridge@bigfoot.com or phone on 01543 44 44 49.

Tickets are £7 including day fishing ticket, bring visitors along for the same price. Juniors and seniors £5
