The first instruments I ever made, were two 'violins' late in 1992. Now I make fifteen or more per year and have completed over 300! Self taught, and working self employed as a full time violin maker certainly is a challenge, but it suits me well. I am free to develop ideas of construction, style and tone as I wish.

I have to work within the boundaries of the market place in order to survive, but I'm not afraid to stretch these boundaries quite a bit !
As a result, as well as making traditional violins and violas, I make smooth violins with open scrolls (my Infidels) and specialize in 5 stringed instruments, Octave violins and my radical new Revolins. Add to that a splash of colour, an original body shape, an open scroll perhaps and some fancy inlay, and the word 'unique' seems almost redundant.

I make instruments because I like them. I like their link with a long tradition and their individuality and differences, I celebrate their originality, and that goes for the players also !..... Best of all I enjoy the match between player and instrument, and the relationship that exists between the two.... then I know I've done my job right.
My violins are played by professional and amateur players, around the world, in many styles including: Classical, Jazz, Cajun, Contemporary and Traditional Folk Music.
