J4;The new Jazz/Swing violins
These are my newest innovation. The J4 Jazz/Swing violins.
My idea was to make a violin specifically for ease and speed of playing. The cut away allows for easy reach up into the higher registers, and the uncluttered treble [bowing] side gives a feeling of confidence and freedom to the bowing arm.
Acoustically they work well too. The E strings are powerful and direct and the others are well balanced and sonorous, with just the right amount of 'cut' to them.
I call them Jazz/Swing, but they are equally at home playing any type of music..
I'm really pleased with them and think they will make an exciting addition to my somewhat unconventional range of fiddles.
At last I finally got 'round to recording
a third TRI-FOLK CD. I've had loads of great feedback from players using No.1 and 2, so at last here is No.3 ! This one has 10 American fiddle tunes to learn and play along with.
