THE KETTLE CLUB
SOUTH WALES DISTRICT
came
to life in the summer of 2004 when,
after owning my kettle for 8 years decided it was time to actually
USE it and not just spend money on it.
Through the
kettle club
breakdown list I got in touch with Kevin Jones in Cardiff,
fortunately he too was looking for an excuse to put some miles on
his bike so overcoming a few problems we managed to MOT and TAX our
bikes just in time for that years BLUE HAZE in Baskerville Hall,
Clyro..
We both had an excellent day with no major problems (or ones we
couldn't fix ourselves) we covered 200 miles + what with the
organized ride out, not bad for two bikes totaling 58 years old and
hastily prepared for the day.
Over the winter of 2004/5 using the local free ads and E-bay (cheeky
but there you go) I was able to contact other kettle owners in South
Wales and beyond who were up for ride out's and meetings and wanted
to ride our excellent roads.
Our first ride out was on the 10th of April and we managed 7 kettles
at our now favored meeting place the Down's cafe at Cowbridge on the
A48, we then went out weather permitting every other weekend also
meeting in Porthcawl on every Wednesday evening at 7pm, at present I
am in contact with 20 or so kettle owners (there's more out there)
and we can not wait for April 2nd when we will be back out on your
bikes.
Through the winter months we decided to meet up an the Ty-Risha Inn
in Bridgend which is just of junction 36 M4 every other Tuesday, and
we had our first Christmas dinner there organized by my wife which
was attended by 12 members we had a good evening and I hope this was
the first of many.
