Vets Leagues (at British Tennis)>
Thornbury Tennis Club has teams in the Avon Summer and Winter
Leagues but not the Summer Vets this year.
Winter Leagues (October to
March)
The winter league teams are
mixed, each team comprises 2 men and 2 women and the match is 1 men's doubles, 1
ladies' doubles, and 2 mixed doubles. The matches are generally played on Sunday
mornings, but some clubs prefer to play on Saturday, or Sunday afternoons. As
with the summer league, there are 10 matches, but they are spread over the 6
winter months.

Veterans (men and women aged 40 and over)
The veterans have been relegated to Division 3 this winter.

Summer Veterans League
(August/September - 10 weeks)
We do not have any

Vets Leagues (at British Tennis)>
Summer Leagues (May to July)
The summer league teams are mens'
doubles and ladies' doubles. Each team comprises 2 couples, and matches are
played on Friday evenings. There are generally 6 teams in each league, and we
play each team home and away. Therefore there are 10 matches, starting the
Friday after the May bank holiday and finishing 11 weeks later (there are no
matches on the Friday of the Spring Bank Holiday weekend.
The Summer 2009 season runs from
May 8th to July 17th.

The First Team had a good first season in Division 3
and finished 4th.

Second Team in Division 5A
<Div 5A table and results>
The Second Team struggled in Division 5 and finished botton so will return to
Division 6 next year.

Team in Division 8C
<Div 8C table and results>
The Third Team finished 4th.
Mens
Fourth
Team in Division 8A

The fourth team finished 3rd.
Ladies - 3 teams
All three teams finished mid-table last summer and so play again at the
same level.
Ladies I -
5th in Div 3B so will join the 2nd team in Div 4 next year
Ladies II -
3rd in Div 4A.
Ladies III -
bottom in Div 6B, so down to Division 7 next year.
