Welcome to St Swithun's!
We are a church family who gather to worship and serve God in the beautiful village of Bathford on the east side of the City of Bath in the UK. We offer you a warm welcome to browse our site or to join us at any of our services or activities.
St. Swithun's exists to enable people to explore the Christian claims for themselves in their own way and to respond to God appropriately. As such we provide a variety of different styles of service as well as small groups both for children and adults. We also pray each week for the life of our parish and the wider community. The church is always open during the week (apart from school holidays) should you wish to visit us and just spend a few moments in peace and quiet.
To find out more about us and/or what we get up to just click on one of the categories on the left, type something into the search box or browse though our latest news items below.

Scubed Autumn Programme 2008
And so we come to Autumn. That season of ‘mellow fruitfulness’. Autumn; with its strong winds with cold and damp conditions. Autumn: not clearly distinguishable from summer.
September 14th The first of our ‘New for 2008’ Scubed Sunday evenings.
What’s in?: More space (we meet at the village Hall in Bathford), More time (we meet from 6.30 to 8.00), less whispering (With space, we can make more noise as we explore the Christian faith). What’s no longer allowed: Sadly no more knife throwing, fire-eating or poking members of the choir with a stick.
September 20th Whether the weather permits; The Crazy Golf open championships at Vickie Park.
September 28th Scubed Sunday in the village hall. Please bring your brain.
October 12th Scubed Sunday in the village hall. Please bring your own teeth.
October 18th ‘Moved on by the police’ A progressive supper that kicks off at 7.00 at the Craine’s
October 26th Scubed Sunday in the village hall. Please bring someone else’s teeth
November 9th Scubed Sunday in the village hall. Please bring own kidneys
November 15th Meet Bathford’s only outdoor pianist and roving a campanologist.
November 23rd Scubed Sunday in the village hall. Please bring all things bright and beautiful
December 14th Christingle Service on Sunday afternoon. Please do come, help with the pyrotechnics, help damp the flaming vicar’s cassock and enjoy some refreshments with us afterwards. This is a really short and friendly service and suitable if you don’t always feel comfortable in church. That’s why the vicar enjoys it so much.
Sadly with a growing group, we won’t be able to provide such a comprehensive transport service. We are sorry, but suggest we ‘compare notes’ before each event to check that everyone can arrive and get home safely, and see if we can share lifts.
