Traction Al & Bri’s past is shrouded in mystery, however a few nuggets of info have been uncovered from the dark realms to reveal a side you would never suspect if you met them down the pub. Traction was the first band they masterminded many a moon ago. They custom made amplifiers from spare radios, transistors and anything remotely electrical they could find. This was all mounted on planks of wood and the result led to some excellent natural sound effects. Its rumoured that Al's addition of a Hombrew kit funnel created the flange effect later patented by Boss.

Outatime J & H’s first band, mere nippers fresh from school, who played alongside Ade & Phillip Peskett and the sadly missed Stephen Houldcroft (R.I.P.) This is where they cut their teeth in the rock world and wrote numerous songs about teenage angst and generally being mad at their folks. Outatime only did one gig at the Aelfgar assembly rooms. However, they managed to play 4 and a half hours straight and were supported by the Bucket Heads, those rascals!

Matrix Come on, the band could have been crap for all we care, Al & Bri actually came up with the band name Matrix, 56 years before the Wachowski brothers even dreamt about Neo. It is rumoured that this was the period when Al was introduced to that cheeky Nintendo plumber Mario. An 8bit pixel bond was formed instantly and the rest, as we say, is history. |
Midnight Riot J & H entered the world of 80’s rawk with the introduction to most excellent night club venues such as the Highwayman and XL’s. This spawned Midnight Riot with fellow members Wilbur, Taylor and the Randal. Sadly the band never made it to the stage, leaving lots of spandex, bandanas and bangles wasting in the wings.

Night Flight Night Flight was a hard rocking band that saw Al & Bri really strut their funky stuff. Their influence into the rock world was becoming ever present and culminated in the released a single “Mud in Your Eye”. Yep, that would be on that there vinyl stuff anyone under the age of 25 hasn’t a clue about. Archaeologists are still trying to trace the last remaining copy.

Bad Billy’s Cactus Juice J & H found themselves reunited with Ade Pesket who'd magically morphed his flying V into a 7 piece drum set. They were joined by a young Paulus Gray and later by Mr Hill. The foray into early nineties Funk rock began and the Mighty Juice unleashed their influence across the land. So you thought Limp Bizkit and Linkin park pioneered rap metal? Think again, Bad Billys we’re knocking out riffs and rhymes back in ’93, that’s old school baby. BBCJ recorded a number of EP's, details here

The Rockets Al & Bri actually inspired Goth rock during their experimental period with The Rockets. Their stage entrance comprised of the singer trapped in a coffin, lighter fluid being splashed all over it and then lit. The rest of the band, dressed as Mad Monks, would carry the ablaze coffin on stage and then release the singer from his burning casket, fantastic. They realised that health and safety could be an issue so after a couple of gigs they bored holes into the coffin lid so the singer could breathe. Unfortunately, lighter fluid would accompany the influx of air and one night when the coffin was lit, so was the singers face, that’s Rock! |
Slip Not Jon trod a strange path and entered the darkside. Himself and several dozen friends set up a SlipKnot tribute band. Guitars down tuned 18 frets and beer kegs for drums, you just know where that was heading.. |
FreeFall H became a stoodent and set up FreeFall with his mate Rick. They played one acoustic set at the Uni battle of the Bands where they performed some very unique toons they had composed.
|
LiviD H lived in France for a year, but couldn’t drop the band bug. He met up with Ray, Gary and David to set up a band and kick some Euro ass! They played a couple of festivals culminating in a superb gig on the Jura mountains. LiviD recorded one EP, details here
|
Al, Bri, J & H got the idea of forming a new band not long after BBCJ performed a reunion gig back in 2001. Al, Bri & Jon had played the occasional new years event under the Dead Men Walking name, then H joined early 2002 in earnest and the line up was complete. They’ve had their fair share of ups and downs over recent years, however, the music of past decades now lives on through Liquefy, rock on baby! Liquefy have currently recorded one EP check the disco page for details.
