Arts management is so much more that just administrating in the arts. I soon realised this when I begun the Certificate Arts Management course at Sussex University in 2001. Arts management involves research, consultancy, project and event management, education, advocacy and a host of other activities.

I am passionate about the arts and creativity - not only for their own sake but also because of their use and application in all areas of our lives. I believe that the arts have a real ability to effect change, on both an individual and societal level.

The arts need passionate advocates. This passion enables us to engage those new to the arts or engender excitement in a group of exhausted performers who are about to start their 5th gig of the day. This passion gives us the drive to stuff 500 envelopes with a smile because we care about the work we are doing.
