Unpick evokes images of separation, untangling and unravelling. It can also suggest examination and exploration or even destruction. It is definitely active and requires movement.

My name is Lucy Stone and I live in Brighton. I chose the name ’unpick’ because it links the components of my portfolio of work - the various aspects that make my working and creative life which includes arts management, textiles, accessories and photography. I am all of these things combined, none individually.

Each part of my life reflected in the sections of my site has an aspect of ‘unpick’. Arts management is about revealing the layers in what occurs; my textiles and accessories are a tactile need to pull apart and explore; whilst my photography hopes to capture the patterns and nuances of the world around me. Other threads entangle themselves in work – culture, pattern, communication, form, movement and the human figure.
